Some people do find that Utrogestan aggravates headaches initially, which often settle within the first couple of months. If these are migraines and are troublesome, I'd mention this to your prescriber. You may want to discuss vaginal Utrogestan use, which is unlicensed use but is successful for lots of people who have Utrogestan side effects in avoiding those unwanted effects🩷
@Sharon I am going to flag this up with my GP - do you think it needs upping again?
@Sharon Migraines have happened when on evorel 25 only.
My non-medically qualified opinion would be that your dose should have been kept at 50mcg. The drop to 25mcg *may* have triggered this, but this is something your prescriber is best placed to discuss with you 🙂❤️
@Sharon I should have questioned it at the time but my peri brain is rubbish! Ill.enail my GP tomorrow
@Clare (can't see waves) There's a lot to think about in appointments, so that's understandable 🙂
GP recommends coming off the patches... am nervous about this. Also my periods have stopped - on day 66 so far... what does this mean for me going forward?
@Clare (can't see waves) what‽ Stopping HRT altogether? Have they explained why exactly?
To help with the migraines apparently 😕
Very confused now!
I've emailed her back asking what to do going forward
Here's information from National Migraine Centre: https://www.nationalmigrainecentre.org.uk/understanding-migraine/factsheets-and-resources/migraine-menopause-and-hrt/
If you aren't happy to totally stop your HRT, then I would go back to this GP having read that 👆 information, and maybe pass it on to them. Or, seek a second opinion from a GP with greater confidence in HRT prescribing. Obviously, I'm not medically qualified and there may be other factors in play here of which I'm unaware, but this latest GP instruction doesn't seem to be considering your wants and needs.
Thanks. I'm wondering whether to stick it out for a few more weeks and see if it settles down as it has only been a month or so...

Periods can be very erratic through perimenopause. I can't specifically comment or advise on what this may mean medically for you as I'm not qualified to do so, but this M-brace The Change factsheet on Perimenopause Periods may give useful general information: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dPMxnM8cPqyMq_obcp5tpNtuni7BWu6c/view?usp=drivesdk
@Clare (can't see waves) Three months is usually the marker for allowing stuff to settle. Clearly I wouldn't advise going against doctors' instruction, but it does seem very hasty on their part having only just made a change again! 🩷
Yes I wasn't expecting that tbh. I'll stick it out for a while longer and see how it goes.
Hello 🙂 From what you say here, your oestrogen dose has been halved with the switch to Everol 25mcg patches - which essentially means a hormonal change due to dose change! Was this reduced dose explained to you by the prescriber? 💕
