How did it go and how did you prepare for it? May i ask why you are doing ivf? Are you doing a fresh cycle? I am new to all of this and am starting BC for preparation soon
@Patrice Hi! That’s so exciting, wishing you lots of luck. My first egg retrieval didn’t go very well but that was more due to us not realising I had some intolerances to morphine. However today’s went very well, the procedure itself is quite quick. My clinic does conscience sedation so I was asleep but woke up pretty quickly afterwards. I spent about an hour in recovery after having some food and drink and decided to just use a heat pack and paracetamol for the pain (mild back pain with some stomach cramping) and I’ve spent the rest of the day on the sofa. Follow the advice from the clinic, make them aware if there’s any medications you can’t have and just be kind to yourself. Wishing you all the best ✨ xx
@Sophie hi Sophie. Today went really well, to prepare I took two paracetamol before the procedure and made sure I had my heat pack for afterward (absolute god send 🙏). We have been trying to conceive for 5 years with 4 chemical pregnancies. All of our tests prior to IVF came back as good so went for our first round of IVF in April where we failed to fertilise. This explained why the chemicals were reoccurring and this time we decided to go for ICSI so hopefully we can get over our hurdle! 🤞 Don’t know whether I’m being dim, but what is BC? Wishing you lots of luck 🍀❤️
Wow that’s a long journey. How do you keep yourself together? Fingers crossed that this time it will work! BC is birth control Thank you :)
Hey Kerry that's great I hope it will be great results tomorrow x You mentioned about the failed fertilisation in April which explains the recurring chemicals, why is that so? We have had 2 early losses in the last year and are now doing ICSI with PGT-A, I'm currently Day 6 of the cycle hoping all will be good!
@Sabrina thank you! 🤞 So we had two fertilise out of 17 but they fertilised 24 hours after they were expected. When I spoke to the consultant (obviously this is speculation but makes sense), we came to the conclusion that I am struggling to get pregnant due to the hurdles in fertilisation and then in the time where we do fertilise the embryos are probably too weak to continue development and that’s why I’m experiencing early losses. Sending you lots of luck and wishing you all the best ✨
@Sophie ahh that makes sense haha! I have a fantastic support system and just try to stay positive. All you can do is try your best but accept that you can’t control everything x
Thanks Kerry that's really interesting and insightful. What you or the consultant speculated does make sense and so the ICSI would help with it. :) All the best for the results tomorrow hope it will be good 🤞🏻 thanks and also wishing you all the best !
ICSI is brilliant! Unsure why clinics don’t just do this as standard. Wishing you luck :) x
Our first cycle zero fertilised out of 18 and we used donor sperm so there was no sperm issue. We were devastated. The second we did ICSI too and had a really good response! Good Luck!
@Krystina that’s brilliant to hear, glad it worked out for you 🥰🥰
@Kerry they will call you this morning?
@Krystina yes they called this morning. Obviously it’s so early as we are only on day 1 but so far ICSI has been so much more successful than IVF for us so just keeping everything crossed for the next couple of days 🤞🥰
Im not at the same stage but I wanted to know how was egg collection for you? Due to me having PCOS and irregular cycles, they want me to start provera on 9/22 if i dont start my period before then and egg retrieval & transfer will be mid november. Nervous and excited. Baby dust to you!!
