Has anyone had the paragard copper IUD? I’m getting it Thursday and have never had an IUD. I was on the pill for like 10 years before getting pregnant. Lmk your experiences!

I have mirena, got it inserted during my csection. Honestly I think it’s causing me back pain😭I’ve been hit with back pain 3 times heavily since delivering my son, it’s either that or my spinal. But I truly believe it’s from the iud! Just a heads up it’s a symptom you can experience!

I had it before our planned pregnancy and had another put in after birth. I love that it’s hormone free. The only thing I had to pay attention to was the strings because my husband said he felt like when they weren’t the right length his penis was being stabbed by fishing wire during sexy time. 😬

Hello, I have the Paragard copper IUD. I got it a few weeks ago, and it seems fine for me. The procedure was pretty quick, and I'd say it wasn't too painful either. I had mild cramping after it was done, and I had some cramping for about a week. I've been okay since. I'm breastfeeding, so I haven't gotten my period, so I can't say what that will be like. The only thing that has changed is my discharge is slightly different, but nothing gross or really abnormal. I hope this helps.

Mine was extremely painful to put in. The no period thing was nice, but I don’t think it was worth it

I’ve had 3 across 13 years. I love it! The negative side effects of hormonal birth control were difficult to deal with, so for me it was an amazing turnaround. The first time I had it inserted it was excruciating but the second two times it was uncomfortable but tolerable. The difference was getting medication from my doctor. I would ask for a prescription painkiller/relaxant to take before the procedure (ibuprofen doesn’t help but take 800mg anyway). A cervix softener helps too but if you’ve just had a baby you don’t need it. Other than the insertion and some mild cramping/spotting for a few days afterwards, I haven’t had any pain or side effects. We were able to get pregnant immediately after I got my second one out because there’s no hormones. So nice that it lasts 10 years, and to not have to worry or remember to take a pill.
