Travelling for holiday

Ok so we have booked a holiday for next feb which means my little girl will be well over a year old by then. The journey is 5 hours can anyone give me tips on what to do for my child’s benefit ie stops. Entertainment what do I need for the journey for her? I’ve not been on holiday since I was 12 I’m now 25 🤣 and this will be her first holiday so completely new to me x

Following as we are going in Feb too and I’m already dreading it all!

Is it a car ride? Or plane? It sounds like a car journey. If so we’ve tried to set off at nap time so they sleep for a good hour or so, then really just play it by ear, we try to get as far as we can without a stop really but 5 hours you’ll probably need 2 stops for some lunch and another for a stretch/fresh air etc. in the car we don’t really give them anything to play with as such but you can get iPad holders if they’d watch that but I’ve never tried it personally. If it all goes south I have had to play music to calm them on repeat when we were in a rush to board the plane!! You could also maybe sit in the back with them to entertain them x

If it’s a plane then an iPad with shows downloaded is a life saver (we have a Amazon fire thing but call it his iPad), I did take headphones but didn’t find them necessary on a daytime flight, snacks, lots of snacks, I also got sticker books and those colouring books with pens that only draw on the paper just from Amazon. They’ll also sleep for hopefully at least an hour of it!! A window seat was also good as kept him entertained for a bit. It’s a tricky age if they are on the move I found but worth it 😅 x

@Kate Thankyou so much that was really helpful! Yes it’s a car journey we are also travelling with dogs so 2 stops at least are a must. I’m a little nervous but it’s something to look forward to. Thankyou again xx
