Holiday / Abroad

Hi Have you been away with your little one? If so how did you find it and do you have any tips etc? Also wondering on how many bottles you took, formula in case / hand luggage etc.

Hi! I went with my eldest when he was 4mo. Id recommend taking a snooze shade, it was a life saver for naps. And have a look at your accom curtains/blinds as you can take a portable black out blind. You can order formula and nappies to pick up a the boots shop in the airport, so they don't count towards your luggage allowance. Id get 50% extra than you think you'll need. Id also order them in to arrive 2 days before you fly so you know they're 100% going to be there. If you're taking a pram I'd recommend buying a pram travel bag to put it in when you put it in the hold when you get to the aeroplane as it knocks about a lot (twice our wheel has come off- luckily not an issue as not damaged). Also you can take as much water/formula etc as you want in your bag, no restrictions.

I went away to France with my then 10 week old and honestly other than my boobs and a thick blanket for popping him down for some floor time every now and then that was it. If I was taking him now I would take a few little toys (a mirror, a rattle, some black and white cards) but honestly just being in a new environment is stimulation enough for them at 3-4 months. He did all his naps in the carrier or car seat so we could get out and about, but I also brought a cheapy shade for his pram and white noise machine in case he fancied a pram nap! Clip on fans are a must if you are going somewhere hot too xx

I went aboard when baby was 8 weeks and am going again in a week (baby will be in 16 week). Take snoozeshade, pram fan, hand held fan, rockit, mini paddling pool, baby float, white noise speaker, ear defenders for plane. I’m EBF so can’t help with bottle advice unfortunately. With all these mini essentials it was a breeze!! We needed them all though!!

Thanks for your help! Did you take standard pram or a travel one? X

I took my standard pram when I took him at 4 months as I knew he'd nap in it. Took a travel one when he was older as he only napped in a cot at that stage anyway.

@Kayleigh travel pram is a must but it will get battered… we got a mamas and papad libro and planning to travel a lot so worth the investment it’s fab
