I lived off of fast food and sweets for the the first 25 weeks of my pregnancy because it was the only thing I could keep down most of the time. I had severe morning sickness. My baby girl came out perfectly healthy. And while I do sometimes feel guilty about it I remind myself that at least I was getting SOMETHING down. You’re doing great
I was exactly the same, you are eating what you can which is fuelling your body and helping grow your little one. As soon as I hit second trimester some of my food aversions dropped and I could get more protein and a more varied diet so don’t be too hard on yourself. You have to remember your doing the best you can and making the choices your body is letting you make right now xx
I’m in a similar boat, I had a very healthy diet prior to pregnancy which I haven’t been able to keep up. I used to have eggs for breakfast every day and haven’t touched them for weeks. I just want plain foods like mash and other carbs as the thought of anything else makes me feel sick. The above comments have great advice. Overall try not to put pressure on yourself, food aversions are hard! You still have so much left of your pregnancy to eat a little healthier if you’re able to, but if not no big deal. Some women can’t keep food down but their babies arrive perfect.
Thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement everyone💕 I really needed to hear them today 🥲
Hey, same here. I've eaten so much more junk food but with my first pregnancy I was the same. I ate a bit more and worse in the first trimester (the tiredness doesn't help it definitely makes you crave more bad food and sends you into that cycle) but the second trimester I evened out a bit and felt like I had more energy which gives you more motivation and so on. I've had so much more sweet stuff than I usually would but hey ho I really wouldn't worry. Baby will be just fine you do what you can :) xx
It’s totally normal! Eat whatever makes you feel okay, I was exactly the same with both of my pregnancies
I was not like this at all with my first pregnancy, but I was also on amazing quality supplements. My second I decided to go the cheaper rout with the supplements and I craved so much junk/carby food/takeout. He was born healthy but within days he was snotty and sickly. I went back on the more expensive supplements and I no longer crave the above mentioned food!🫶🏽 I used to feel so guilty too, and my biggest regret is that I didn't go back on the supplements sooner!
I'm in the same boat here at 8 weeks. I talked to my doctor today and she even told me not to worry about eating healthy, just eat what you can stomach, but eat something, it's totally fine! I'm sure you're taking Prenatal vitamins and such. Everything is ok! 😊
Don’t feel bad about it! Pregnancy is a weird time for eating. I’m a registered dietitian and I’m pretty sure peanut butter and jelly sandwiches were about 60% of my diet when I was pregnant. I wasn’t sick at any point but I was exhausted and a lot of healthful things I usually love just gave the ick. Just do your best and know that anything you can get in IS helping. Some mamas puke their whole pregnancy and still have perfectly healthy babies.
Oh my goodness, so me! Third pregnancy now and I was so hungry and craved carbs for the first trimester for each of my pregnancies. Eased off now I'm in the second trimester, but both my girls are healthy, bright children, so I don't think they've suffered too much!
I lived off hot chips raisin toast and grapes
I really don’t think you should feel bad!! I have moments where I crave fruit and veggies but have had whole days where all I wanted was peanut butter on toast 🤷🏻♀️ I also went off chicken and eggs (the only animal products I eat) for a few weeks and that was hard because nothing seemed to fill me up. As other people are saying you’re eating so your baby is gonna be fine!! Also it’s always changing so you’ll probably want different things now/soon.
Don’t feel bad! I think all of not most of us have been in the exact same place with those food aversions and the guilt of not eating more nutritious foods. All I craved in the beginning were carbs also, probably for energy. But, rest assured that baby gets everything they need from you. They pull it from your reserves whether you’re consuming it or not. So unless you’re completely malnourished, they’re getting what they need from you. Obviously it’s better for you to eat nutritious more often than not, so you’re not totally drained from nutrients you need also. But don’t worry too much. Just make sure you’re taking your vitamins.
