How old is my baby?

I’ve had a few friends and we all seem to age our babies differently. Do you use 4 weeks = 1 month or would you say if your baby is born on January 1st, on March 1st they would be 2 months? My husband and I are using different methods so I’m wondering what others do. Thanks!!

I counted in weeks up to three months and then I stopped using months after I lost track after 1 1/2 years

4 weeks isn’t equivalent to a month. If you count by weeks their birthday would be different each year 😊

i go based off the day they were born, my bubba was born on the 29th so yesterday he turned 4 months

Yeah each week is a new week on the day they were born so if born on a Saturday then each Saturday is a new week. If they are born on the 1st then each 1st would be a new month. You can’t count by weeks for their entire first year because it won’t add up

4 weeks is 4 weeks. A month would be the date baby was born

Every time it’s a new month on the day baby was born is when they go up in age. The weeks haven’t made sense to me since I was pregnant and I don’t think it will ever make sense. Lol. My son was born May 2 in October on the second. He will be five months.

The only correct way to do it is to go from the date they were born, so if the 1st January is their birthday then the 1st February they would be 1 month otherwise it doesn’t fall in line with their birthday.

After 3 weeks, I would start using months

my son who was born aug 3rd is a month and 4 weeks but it’s two months yet cuz it hasn’t hit oct 3rd 🥴

In the early year(s) of life, baby develops and grows fairly quicker than later years, so most, medical professionals and parents will want to use weeks instead of months/years, because baby at 6 weeks and 8 weeks old can be at a different developmental stage, then once they reached 6 months, people started using months because it’s easier but also things start to slow down, baby can be sitting by 6 months and then started crawling at 7 months. Some people might use weeks as it’s still fine to do, but for over 12 months, I would definitely be using months since it’s easier to work out but also developmental wise, not as much of a differences between weeks now.

I counted weeks until we reached 20 weeks then turned to months

I go by months because I lost track of the weeks lol

It’s the same number of every month. That is the only way to do it.

Using weeks and saying they are a month older is not correct so whoever is doing that is wrong lol. It’s the day they were born. You can use just weeks but you can’t say every 4 weeks is a new month

My little one is 7 months on the 1st oct and he was born 1st March. I don’t understand why people do it every 4 weeks😅 every month doesn’t have exactly 4 weeks

It’s the day they were born! So a baby born on the 5th will be a month older on the 5th of each subsequent month 🙂

I asked this question months ago because I was confused as to why anyone would do it by every 4 weeks, lol. My baby was born April 15th, he was officially 1 month old on May 15th, not May 13th, which would have been 4 weeks from his birthdate. If we did it by every 4 weeks, it wouldn’t align with their 1st birthday.

A month is the date the baby was born. Weeks are just weeks. My baby was born on March 2 so on October 2, he’ll be 7 months.

My baby was born on 25th June but was 12 weeks on the 17th so I go by his actual birth date

4 weeks isn’t always a month. It’s usually 4.2 4.3 weeks so better of doing it from month to month. I.e 1st-1st xx

days until 2 weeks, weeks until 2 months, months until 2 years.

I’m a 1st to 1st person because there are different week amounts per month and days

Weeks count from the day they were born. So my son was born on a Sunday so yesterday he was 16 weeks. But he's not 4 months until the 9th October so by then he'll be 17 weeks and 3 days. 4 weeks doesn't equal a month.
