Bottles

Has anyone stopped sterilising bottles yet? I’m just trying to understand the logic of still needing to sterilise bottles but not sterilising plates bowls etc as well as everything else that goes in my little girls mouth!

Honestly if I didn't have to sterilise my breastpumps and think "might as well chuck the bottles in there so it's more worth it", I probably would've stopped by now 🤣 there's been plenty of bottles where I've been in a rush and just washed, since he was 4-5m old. My cousin also stopped at 4m. I know people who stopped after 6 weeks and people who didn't at all.

formula contains bacteria so bottles need washing and sterilising in order to make sure this has been completely cleaned. Obviously some Babies tolerate it fine but others may have an upset tummy x

If your giving formula you need to continue sterilising. It's the bacteria that is within the formula that is the issue not the bacteria from surfaces etc hence why you need to sterilise bottles but not anything else x

I stopped sterilising bottles at 6 months, on the guidance from my health visitor. The guidelines have not long changed to 12 months so it’s person preference x

It’s for as long as the baby is drinking formula as the powder contains bacteria
