Ivf schedule

Hi could anyone share with me their ivf experience. I know I will not know exact dates abd everyone is different but just trying to get an idea for appointments as I'm going to be telling my work that I am starting ivf and I want to be able to give them as much info as I can. I have had 2 consultations with bloods and tests done. I have since started my period and been asked to take norethisterone on the 15th October to the 25th of October. I am assuming I would start my period the day after ?? What usually happens. I have nurse appointment on the 22nd assuming for going over medication plan. What else can I expect for this appointment. .. And how many other appointments is average from starting my period to transfer. Thanks 😊

Hi, Personally, once my stims started, I had my first scan at day 5 and then every 3 days after that. My stimulation lasted 13 days and my retrieval was on day 14. I took the day of retrieval and the day after off xx

Brilliant thanks 😊

I did a long protocol. I went in for a baseline scan (about 15 days after the prostap/ Norethisterone). Then, during 13 days of stims, I went in for 3 scans (day 7, 10 and 13). Had egg retrieval 2 days later and embryo transfer 6 days after that. I worked around the scans, I had egg retrieval and recovery over a weekend but it was tough for me and I would have needed 3 days off. I took transfer day off.

@Vit hi thanks is that 15 days after you started norethisterone or 15 days after finishing. Nobody discussed what protocol we are. I just got an appointment letter to take norethisterone on the 15th to 25th. My period should have been on 23rd. Do u usually start stims when your period comes after norethisterone

15 days after starting it. They gave me 5 days of Norethisterone and I had a period about 3 days after stopping. But they gave me my whole treatment plan before the Norethisterone. In my long protocol, I started stims after the baseline scan (my period was done by then). But I think that in a short protocol things are different. The main difference is that they completely shut down my normal period/hormones before taking over. Every clinic seems to have different protocols, I guess they want to delay your period to control the start? The nurse will explain it all when you meet them. But I totally get that it's frustrating, they always seem to drop a little information at a time and it drove me crazy!

Thank you for your help. I never realised how much of a planner I was until its come to starting ivf treatment I feel more stressed of the not knowing the plan than anything else 🤣 I don't feel I have any idea what's happening 🙃

I know, the planning was the worst part for me too. But once I had the treatment plan, I made my own calendar with dates, meds, scans etc. Also, when you start, keep a diary. Write down everything, doses, where on your belly you injected, side effects etc. It's amazing how much you'll forget otherwise

I would add on to these comments too that the plan they give you may change during your cycle. I was set to have 10 days of stims, I had a baseline scan before starting then another scan about 5 days in to stims. The scan I had 2 days later showed my ovaries/ follicles were not responding to the medication dose they put me on. This then meant I was in for daily scans instead and they upped my dosage everytime I went back in. I ended up doing 14 days of stims in the end which obviously meant my egg collection date was also moved. I had egg collection then transfer 5 days later. When I was told the meds were not working well it was a huge shock to me and very upsetting as we suffer with male factor infertility and I’m ‘normal’ as it were. (Hate that term). But we ended up with a successful pregnancy. So I would say just prepare for it not to stick to the plan and if it doesn’t trust the process and be kind to yourself! Sending all the luck to you starting your treatment ✨
