Spritz for bits spray - Absolute essential for me especially after stitches. Can also get packs of maternity pads as will likely be needing those. I bought some witch hazel pads from Amazon to place on top of the pads which really helped too.
Tea tree oil, ladies nappies pants, peri bottle, pain relief
Frida mom ice pads were amazing for me! As well as the frida mom pad liners. Huge maternity pads too. Nipple balm, silverettes. Maybe a voucher for food delivery or something they can put in the freezer! My SIL made us cupcakes and cookie dough for the freezer and it was such a nice treat to have. A cozy blanket/new PJs would be nice too if they're due in the winter x
• large high waisted underwear (in case of an planned/emergency c-section, you don’t want underwear running against your scar) • peri bottle (9 in 10 women will suffer some sort of perineal injury during a vaginal birth, a peri bottle can soothe any stinging that can happen in the first few days, and also keep it clean, always lightly pat dry after, i was fine using toilet tissue) • donut pillow (A MUSTTTTTT! again especially if you sustain a birth injury, the ease this can provide when sitting my god i couldn’t believe it) • stool softeners (a MUST, they make the first few poops postpartum a lot easier, it takes away the need to push/strain much) • a bunch of ibuprofen & paracetamol (you’ll want to be stocked up on painkillers to help relieve as much discomfort as possible) i personally steered clear of any treatments like witch hazel, and spritz for bitz, i’ve tried these things and they only made it worse. i healed a lot quicker without these things. 🫶🏼
oh and abena maternity pads, you can get them off amazon! they didn’t cause me any irritation (i’m very sensitive down there), they don’t soak blood disgustingly like some pads can,
Frida mom sell great pp sets
food delivery. my brother did that for me and it literally saved me in the newborn phase i had no one to help or cook or clean
also i know alot of women say ice packs. but me personally i preferred a heat pad. i didnt tear so maybe thats why i didnt need ice but i still felt bruised inside
@Anisha ♡ I came here to say this my midwife's and everyone around me told me to steer clear of spritz for bitz and stuff it's all just money making and it doesn't benefit as I'd taken it all in my hospital bag they said I'd be better off without so I never used them and I healed quite quickly and did have stitches too x
The thing I got most use out of pp was a decent water bottle (big one) as I spent so much time on the sofa between baby sleeping on me and breastfeeding I was thirsty all the time. Also a snack basket cos I was hungry but busy. Deliver meals that can be warmed up and eaten with one hand. I never personally used any of the sprays, ice packs, heat packs etc so would have been wasted on me.
My parents gifted us a Cook new parents box a month for the first 3 months and honestly it was fantastic, they’ve done the same again this time and I’m so grateful 🙌🏼 just takes the pressure off feeding ourselves with a 1yr old and newborn to contend with!
Sitting in water shallow bath really helped me heal
Badedas to put in the bath x
I’m f you are able to buy frieda mom they have an entire postpartum box, I used all the stuff it was so helpful, they have one for vaginal birth and C-section recovery

@Chloe i was skeptical of buying it this time around with my third but i caved in because i was desperate for some sort of relief and all the reviews made it seem like it was magic, was literally the complete opposite for me! i also noticed ‘perfume’ as the second ingredient!! i don’t know how it’s worked for so many women it made my vagina cry 🫣🤥🤣
Cook vouchers (lovely ready meals) means parents can rest
Peri bottle is a must used it for about 4 weeks after my birth ! Huge must! I got mine off temu for like £2 The bigger ones are better as the ones they sell in boots are so tiny for like £10 and u need a lot of water !
Super soft and comfy lounge clothes to hangout in those first few weeks, meal delivery, house cleaner, lots of snacks that you can eat with one hand.
Disposable underwear, food (even junk food or treats really go a long way), breast pads, pain relief, pads. It’s hard to think of gifts per se. I found acts of service most helpful. Someone to cook/ give me food, watch the baby while I sleep or shower, doing the dishes.
Comfy pjs, food delivery vouchers, slippers, drink bottle, gift card, pamper stuff for when they can have a bath
Meal prep company voucher
Don’t forget the boobs, lanisoh breast pads! These are on the pricier side but absorb so much better and are soo much softer on your nipples. Also a nipple cream could be useful if mum is planning to breastfeed or express.
@Chloe why is this? I was gifted some spritz for bits and I thought it was midwife approved? I mean not sure if it will really do anything but it seems to sooth my stinging? Only used twice just spraying on tissue or on maternity pads x
I had stitches and found a peri bottle with lukewarm water helped soothe them , they can get quite dry so it helped , and from boots you can get a doughnut seat
