I’ll be 4 weeks postpartum tomorrow and had an episiotomy. I’ve had a look down there and compared to how it first looked it’s healing so nicely. However the pressure is insane. I’m so swollen down there that sometimes just sitting is so sore 😣 not sure if this is the same pain you’re feeling but apparently it’s pretty common xx
Have you had your stitches checked out? Worth asking the hospital to take a look for you (I think you stay in their care for 6 weeks - you do in my region anyhow). Some of My stitches opened so I'm three weeks pp and looking at a lot longer recovery period than 3-4weeks but the ones that didn't open are much less painful, not quite healed and still bruised. Not sure if this is helpful or not but you're not alone in recovery from it x
@Eryn yeahh I’m the same, it seems to be healing well but just have an immense pain down there. It’s the pressure and achy feeling . Sitting is so so uncomfortable too I’m glad it’s common cause I was starting to think it was a long term situation and I don’t think I can experience it long term 😂
@Imogen I have had them checked a few times when I had the midwives come and see me but haven’t since then. It seems to be healing really well but just uncomfortable feeling. If it wasn’t for the pain I’d feel somewhat recovered And thank you it’s nice to know I’m not the only one
@Abbey yeahh I might mention it at my 6 week appointment, let me know what they say as mines not for another couple of weeks. When’s your 6 week pp appointment? X
My midwife said episiotomy is very painful even after weeks, I am a herbalist I been doing a tea to help my stitches to heal from a tear, I am using witch hazel which I bought on Etsy, if you want I can share instructions via DM! Hope you heal soon, I can’t imagine the pain 🙈
I have a second degree tear & I’m 5 weeks PP & I find it still aches , specially after sitting for a while. I’m going to mention it to my GP at my 6 week PP appointment .
