My LO will be 6 months next week and she probably weighs 14-15 lbs right now and is strictly taking breast milk . Sometimes she eats 6 oz but typically it can be 3-4 ounces but we also feed her on demand sometimes every 2 hours. I wouldn’t be worried unless your pediatrician has concerns. My husband also is so obsessed with our LOs weight so I can totally relate to always being worried.
My almost 5.5 month old baby is almost 14 lbs she drinks 5 and 6 ounce bottle of formula 6 times a day. She is healthy all that matters!
My EBF LO will be 6M in a few weeks and is in the 45th percentile. She was only eating 3oz bottles every few hours, but is now taking 4oz bottles. You’re feeding your baby enough. Some babies are just smaller, and some are just bigger. My baby was in the 99th percentile at birth. 😂 The main thing is that he is gaining weight and height over time. Don’t get caught up in the percentiles; they’re just statistical averages that haven’t been updated since 2000. They’re not the rule.
My girl eats 6ish oz every 3-4 hours. We had to supplement with formula after we brought her home cause she hadn't gained back her birth weight. If your pediatrician isn't suggesting more or other ways to have baby gain weight, don't worry about it.
The pediatrician isn't that concerned because he's still reaching his milestones.
1/2 Just because your baby drinks x amount of ounces of formula does not mean they should drink the same amount of ounces in breastmilk. The nutrients change in your milk to meet babies' needs as they grow. This happens through saliva touching nipple. My baby is 5.5 months and probably 13 lbs now. The last weight check was about a month ago, and he was 12 lbs. He is in the lower percentile for weight as well. Ped is not worried as he is meeting all milestones and pointed out that both me and my husband are small people. It's not a competition when it comes to babies and what percentile they're at. Not every baby can be at a high percentile. There's going to be babies on the low end. It's just the way it is.
2/2 There is such a thing as being too high on the percentile and being at risk of being overweight. You're doing great following your baby's cues. You don't want to begin overfeeding your baby and creating a much larger problem for them later on in life.
I haven't dealt with this specifically but my new motto (mostly for milestones) is "if my doctor isn't worried about it, I'm not worried about it."
Sweetie. You more than just milk to your baby, okay? You are home ,mommy, and his entire world. Regarding the weight, what is the pediatrician saying about it? I think it's okay as long as he eats well and reaches his milestones. My girl is 15lbs because hubby and I are both small
