Perineal Tear Advice

Anyone who has given birth already had a 2nd degree tear? It’s day 10 for me today and the pain is getting worse. I thought it would be easing or at least be the same level of pain by now. I also saw some stitch material on my pad at day 6 so I don’t know if they’re falling out because it’s infected, and not sure if that came from the perineal tear or the labia tear I had. The day before the midwife had checked the stitches and said they looked fine, but didn’t half pull my vagina apart to look at them, so I’m wondering if that broke one? It’s not red anywhere, but my god I’m in so much pain with it. I think I preferred the pain from my last c section. I’ve been using a peri bottle, aloe Vera, spritz for bits, a lansinoh cold pack and changing my pad every 1 to 2 hours. Topped up with ibuprofen during the day. Not sure what else to do. Really struggling to do anything 😩

I did with my first baby, and it was painful but I don't think it should be getting worse at day 10. Do you have another midwife check or have they discharged you now? If discharged I'd call the GP.

I had tearing last time but it shouldn’t be getting worse, I’d defo get it checked again and keep on top of painkillers x

The stitches started coming off after first week and it was itchy but not too painful. I also tried to keep the area as dry as possible (where’s my friend with similar outcome used a lot of products and ended up getting it infected again). So I’m not sure if it’s to do with moisture, but I’ve always been told that keeping area dry does it wonders with healing. But definitely have it checked out again!

Once your feeling much better and healed, I’d do lots of scar tissue massage too, it helped loads with my scarring x

I had stitches 4 days ago due to a 2nd degree tear and a cut on my labia aswell. I was told that they are dissolvable and I might find them in my underwear around about day 10. She said this is because your body either absorbs them, or rejects them because they don't need them anymore. I'd speak to your midwife / doctor re the pain as I'm already noticing an improvement in how comfortable I am and your 6 days ahead of me. You can also take paracetamol to help with the pain, but I'd speak with someone about it as it's not improving! Also, I only wash down there with water, so don't know if the other things you are using could be holding you back? They might be fine, I don't know! I hope you feel better soon x
