Following… I suspect my 3 month old might have one:/ always has his mouth open, drools sooooo much, nursing is starting to hurt and if he isn’t starving his latch is wild. My friend said she didn’t know until her daughter started solids so I’m waiting ig until then?
Hi! My baby is almost 3 months. She has a tongue tie, lip tie, and 2 cheek ties. I had so many different opinions from nurses in the hospital and lactation consultants. A few that thought she had a tie said they were unsure and if it is, it probably won’t affect her feeding. I went to the chiropractor and they checked and said she had 4 ties. After that appointment I brought her to the pediatrician and made the doctor check. He confirmed it! We just got her tongue and lip tie taken care of- her pediatrician has a laser in his office so we didn’t have to use a pediatric dentist. They brought her to a different room which was difficult. You could hear crying, but it was done very quickly. The laser has minimal bleeding (if any at all) and is less painful for the baby. They did numb the area too! The doctor said she cried more because she didn’t want to be held while they did the procedure. She seemed uncomfortable for just a few hours but was her smiley self after that!
Her symptoms were just about identical to Irene’s baby!
@Morgan thank you for sharing. Have you noticed any changes since the procedure and how has the recovery process been?
For me, the latching no longer hurts! For her, I’m noticing a decrease in clicking sounds and less air so less gas/burps. Sometimes she still latches like before the procedure, but my lactation consultant said that could happen and it will be a habit we have to break
@Irene recovery has been great. I only had to give 2ml of Tylenol to her 2x on the first day. Since then, she hasn’t shown signs of discomfort or anything!
@Morgan thank you! I am glad she is doing great
My daughter had a really bad tongue tie it affected eating with the breast and the bottle. She ended up getting it clipped, she cried for a sec and then was totally fine after didn’t even bleed after! The tongue heals soooo quickly. She wanted her binky after and even had a bottle too seemed to be a lot better at eating once a week passed!
Hi! My little one has a restrictive/ short frenulum which is in the tongue tie family. She sleeps with her mouth open, sleeps while nursing, nursing used to hurt but not anymore, she has spit ups, frequent hiccups, she cluster feeds and recently restless sleep. Going for a frenectomy consultation with a pediatric dentist this week. To see if she needs a frenectomy to fix the issue
