Hmm My almost 8 year old son has ADHD and Autism. My 4 year old is a terrible eater, very picky, won't just sit and eat. I don't make them eat, and I don't make them stay to finish. However, I don't give snacks, treats, or alternative food when they're refusing to eat. I also will set a timer when I'm done eating if they've just been fooling about, and will throw out the food when the timer ends. Sort of a natural consequence. Idk if that helps

I am part of a facebook community for kids with ARFID which is a severe aversion to food… which is different from being a picky eater. The main difference is that kids with this disorder experience severe anxiety around food or the idea of trying new foods. Not sure if your daughter’s case would be simply picky eater or something more extreme like ARFID… either way I sympathize with you. It is really frustrating not being able to feed your kid a healthy diet because they simply won’t eat… and I know how judgmental people can be when they have never experienced this situation. We have come along way since the days he hand only a handful of items he would eat. Now that he is older he knows that he can only have a piece of candy or dessert if he eats some of his dinner… and most of the time it works for us.

Not mean. Just necessary. Don’t forget to take away any Distractions (ei electronics) . And maybe offer some type of award for eating few bits. Maybe try High protein smoothies. With ice cream. Hugs

We’ve had to try different things with our different kids as they’ve gotten into that stage with our son. We did the two bite roll. You had to try two bites of each thing on your plate and for every new thing you tried you got a sticker on a chart that’s like 100 days of habits chart but we just did 100 different foods and when it’s full, he got to pick out a toy and we still do that And as they’ve gotten older we’ve done you can pick a try me size or a full size but whatever size you pick you have to finish it so then they also get an option on what they’re eating, but if we have two sides of protein and a starch or grainthey get to pick a try me or a full size for each one of those
