How does letrozole work in the uk? Can you do a course without a ton of scans like they do in the US? The monitored cycles are so expensive to do each month…
@Yemi did you do anything else along side the medication? Ovulation strips, bloods???
You have to do scans on your first and second course but you’re pretty much left to it after that. You can now get them on the NHS and the scans are included
@Maxine Marie Toptalo I just took a few supplements that were recommended by the doctor alongside letrozole.
@Yemi I didn’t have scans? Only my HSG before this?
@Maxine Marie Toptalo oh maybe it’s the clinic I used then. I had scans between day 11 and 14 for the first two cycles
Absolutely yes I now have a 9 month old baby girl thanks to these amazing pills. I got pregnant on my first cycle but unfortunately miscarried then got pregnant on my 4th cycle. I hope it works as well for you I was literally trying years before this as suffer from pcos and wasn't ovulating at all x
I tried this for three months after almost two years of trying and it worked on the third month. I did get some quite severe pain as a side effect though which they said was ovarian overstimulation but I don’t think most people get that. I stuck with it and it was worth it though.
I started Letrozole yesterday , hopefully it works . Fingers crossed 🤞
I'm on my first cycle of letrozole! Waiting for my lh peak currently on cd20 and not seen it yet 👀 but hopefully it will be soon 🤞🏻
@Roselle Alphonso how you finding it lovely?
@Katie any lh peak? I haven’t had one and due on next period next week so would be 2nd cycle on it really hoping for a miracle on the next 2 rounds 🥺
@Yemi do you have to qualify like you do for IVF and ovulation induction?
@Yog yes quite similar to the IVF criteria but they are less strict on things like BMI etc

@Yemi ah that’s a shame for me as you can’t have a child already etc. Best start saving! Did you just go to your hospital after a referral to your doctor?
@Yog I’ll say give it a shot anyway. They said no to me at first due to my BMI being slightly higher than the benchmark but said yes the second time and said it wasn’t an issue. My GP just referred me and the clinic called me. It’s a private clinic that works with NHS patients
@Yemi I might ask my doctor but usually if either partner has a child already, or you are over 42 etc they charge you. It’s quite expensive with all the scans. £1000 roughly a cycle. Higher if they use injectables. 🫠
@Yog wow that’s expensive! I hope for the tablets they are not as strict. Fingers crossed for you 🤞
I hope the tablets aren't as strict either I was told to just go back when I wanted to try for my second so will be going back myself soon if it doesn't happen naturally x
@Amy oh that’s interesting! I’ll speak to my doctor!
@yog I hope I'm right for the both of us x
Success story here, got pregnant on the third cycle
