Moms who don’t give processed foods or grains yet what are you feeding your baby?

I feel like I’m out of healthy ideas baby wants what I eat now but I am not going to be giving grains or processed foods for a while. Mostly purées since baby doesn’t chew the best yet but the interest in those has gotten low

I cut up apples really small, avocados, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, berries in the mesh or silicone fruit holders

Mashed potatoes, bananas, avocado, peas, oatmeal, grits, yogurt, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, and anything else soft enough to squish between my fingers.

I give quinoa, boiled and peeled zucchini, boiled broccoli, small pieces of salmon or chicken, avocado, boiled potatoes, carrots, parsnip, kiwi, banana, blackberry, blueberry, raspberry, Greek yogurt, peanut butter, almond flour, boiled apples and pears with cinnamon, melon, etc Yesterday I made quinoa, salmon and broccoli with an avocado, cilantro Greek yogurt sauce. I use lots of spices minus salt.

Sorry just wanted to ask why do moms not give grains??

Steam veg and fruits with rice and mash together and give

Why no grains? How old are your babies?

Quinoa is a healthy grain. But curious what you mean about processed foods or grains. What your classing as those foods?

@Gabriella just my preference. I’ve heard it’s better not to give certain things as they don’t have the teeth to grind and metabolism in place to digest yet. So I chose not to give grains yet mostly fruits and veggies, beans, small bits of dairy but even then I think could wait longer on this. Baby’s breastfeeding and getting most of needed nutrition from there still but looking to add more foods as they are very curious

@Emma processed foods anything like bread, pasta, premade snacks with additives, etc. I don’t think grains are unhealthy at all just not necessary for my child to eat yet. As more teeth come in and metabolism strengthens I will introduce grains!

I’m the same. She does have quinoa now and then where maybe people might use rice. As I’m not big fan of rice. I’m into the healthy way of feeding too, so totally get it. Can I ask how old your LO is?

Oh wow I had no idea! Definitely going to look more into this 🙏🏼

@Emma yes baby’s 10 months now! I don’t personally digest quinoa that well so I’m not sure how my LO would do with it. But I did love it until I realized I probably shouldn’t eat it.

If it is any consolation, I am allergic to bananas, avocados, spinach, and kiwis, but my baby has no problem eating them! I was worried at first too, but we have to remember that our babies are not us 😭
