When is your anatomy scan?

My doctor isn’t doing one and I’m unsure why last month my baby’s heartbeat was strong at 147

Well then I would find a new OB. Anatomy scans are routine/standard & that's a huge red flag if they're comfortable not doing one when you obviously aren't comfortable with that decision. Also, 147 is a good number for a heartbeat.

They just aren't doing the 20-week anatomy scan ultrasound?? If you're in the US, that is absolutely bonkers. I'd be finding a new OB immediately. As for movement, have you had an anterior placenta with your other pregnancies? I barely ever felt my first. This is my third and I have barely felt any movement other than a little bit of squirminess like a week ago, but just had an appointment a few days ago with a good strong heartbeat.

I’ve never had an anterior placenta. My OB hasn’t even done the proper scans or blood work that is supposed to be done at 14weeks. I am having a friend get ahold of another doctor about my concerns to get in with someone else for a second opinion.

Sorry you've had such a terrible experience, hope you're able to find a new competent provider!

Definitely find a new provider the blood work and the scans are important for you and baby’s safety this OB sounds very incompetent

Your placenta can change location with every pregnancy, just because you’ve never had an anterior placenta before doesn’t mean you can’t have it on your 4th pregnancy, and i agree with the above… get a new OB! ❤️

I agree that finding a new OB is a good idea. Check with your insurance as well. My OB offers what they call a “peace of mind” scan, which costs about $100 and can be done anytime I feel concerned. If the scan reveals a medical issue, they refund the fee. It might be worth seeing if something similar is available to you.

Could it be possible you have a anterior placenta (in the front vs the back)? I did with my first son and it took me a very long time to feel him.

Update: OB corrected the tests and preformed her own quick peace of mind ultrasound. We learned Baby is doing amazing. My placenta is anterior and very large covering the entire front of my uterus however there’s no cause for concern just yet. I have another more in depth ultrasound in 3 days and will know more including the gender of our baby!
