Imaginary friends

My son is nearly 3 years old and keeps saying he’s scared of a boy at night and becomes hysterical when I put him to bed. As you can imagine I am pooing my own pants at this because it’s only me and him in our 1 bed flat. I don’t let him see me scared and it sounds so silly but has anyone else ever experienced this with their toddler ?

Have you inquired more about it? Like how often does he see the boy, where, does he move or speak? I mean I remember, growing, seeing this shadow cast from outside on the wall opposite my bed. It looked like someone was looking in through a window, which is what I thought it was, until I grew up and realised it was just the shadow from one of my mom’s plants… maybe something similar in your situation?

I would advise praying x

@Ada Alexandra he’s speech is quite delayed but he’s always very accurate with what he means when he does speak, I do hope it’s just some sort of shadow and thank you for your reply !

@Erica I’m not religious at all but want to move out of this place after everything 🤦‍♀️

Have you tried night lights in his room just to prevent shadows (if that is what he’s seeing) maybe ask where he sees “the boy” and put a light there x

I don’t suppose your son shows signs of autism? Imaginary friends are more common in autistic children than neurotypical children. They can be a benefit as autistic children with imaginary friends generally have better social skills.

😱 omg terrifying 😅😂

Oo ok, hopefully it gets better x
