Nursery waiting lists…

Morning mamas and mamas to be! :) I’m currently 23+4 weeks pregnant and recently someone told me to start checking in with my local nurseries because waiting times can be really long apparently. I didn’t believe this person at first and let me tell you… I was an idiot! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I rang just a couple of settings this week just to be on the safe side and was told that they had no spaces until… February 2026!!! I am hoping to go back to work around December 2025 so I may find myself in a pickle (but hopefully not 🤞). I’m making this post just in case there are pregnant mamas out there like me who haven’t thought about this yet! Please start booking nursery visits asap and don’t be like me!♥️

Definitely have a ring around. In my area they are ranging between 6-9 months waiting list x

Yeah, most have at least a year, if not a year and a half waiting list in our area too! It’s kind of mental!

@Alexandra it really is mental isn’t it 🤣. They ask you to know what days you want your little one to come in etc and how am I supposed to know this over a year in advance!! 🤣🤣🤣

Omg that stressed us out too! Like … I do not know my schedule a year in advance?! We’ve just opted for three mornings a week for now and hopefully that’ll suffice until baby reaches 2, then we said we’d look into full days. It’s so weird having to plan eveyrthing for 2026

I was shocked at this too! I was visiting nurseries when I went on maternity leave at 37 weeks, had my babys place confirmed before she was even born! Ridiculous!

So crazy! I felt silly going to look at 20/21 weeks pregnant but it’s good we did as they only have spaces from March/April 2026 which is when we need! 🙈 phew!

I struggled to get my daughter in for this September, when I popped to office to pay my nursery bill they told me to put my baby in womb (at this point I was 6 weeks) on the list!!!

It’s absolutely crazy! If only I knew about this before I would’ve contacted them sooner :(. I do have two nursery visits booked now for next week so fingers crossed, if not my contingency plan is my mum for the first couple of months but I do realise that I’m extremely lucky that she is able to help me!!

The one I wanted didn’t have space until April 2026😶🥴

We were lucky to get a spot, but yes some places you need to put yourself on the list as soon as you know you're pregnant

September’26 earliest in our area 🫠🫠🫠 I’ve been on the waitlist since 10 weeks of pregnancy 🥴

Thanks for the heads up! I’m 20 weeks and this has been on my mind to do for a little while now but just haven’t got round to it - I will now make it a priority!!

Absolutely, from what the rest of the mums are saying here it sounds like some areas are even busier than around here November 26 is madness!!!

Yeah we booked visits for when our girls were born as it took us a year to get my elder daughter into the nursery I wanted x and as we had twins we needed two spaces xx people laughed at me when I was looking at them so early but time goes so quick xx our girls start next month xx

We might have a place in September 26 at my son's current nursery, so even if we would be on priority list as we already use them 🙃....and it is also the most expensive one 😅....I'm planning on be back at work in January 26🫠
