Tearing

Hey! My LO was born on 13th and I experienced a second degree tear and needed quite a few stitches. I am so afraid to go number 2 now 😭 has anyone got any recommendations to make that experience a little easier?

Drink lots of water, go at the first urge so you don't get constipated, hold your bits and try to relax. I had a 3rd degree and honestly, it was fine

I second trying to relax and don’t hold it, I also had a second degree tear x

I had a second degree tear from having my boy on the 11th and only went yesterday- I had a strong coffee and shower just before to get things moving and although it was painful taking my time with the whole process helped. I probably spent about 30 minutes on the loo, if it helps going again today wasn’t nearly as daunting!

I had an episiotomy on the 13th, but I agree with what's been said so far! Have a coffee or yoghurt or something to get things moving, and then give yourself lots of time! I found it best to just let things happen on their own with the least pushing I could manage, and it wasn't too bad! Honestly don't worry, it won't be as bad as you think xx

Hold a clean pad against your vulva/perineum when you go :) the pressure helps, I promise!

Thank you ladies ❤️

A foot stool as well. Breathe like labour too!

Put a foot stool in front of you to get a 'W' shape. Eat something fibrous, lentils or something and try to go on the first push. Breathe like labour. Don't tense up. I promise you it's worse in our heads. Also, if you have the option, go on a circular toilet rather then a rectangular.
