Hi My little girl is the same. She can order the numbers to 10 without support and can match the amounts to the number e.g 3 Pom poms to number 3. I have also started phonic sounds with her. She can recognise all single phoneme sounds and we are now working on digraphs. I taught reception and nursery for many years so happy to help :)x

@Rachael I’ve started to work on quantity of the number with him already he’s doing so well but some days everything is just 5 🤣 He does really well with letters he knows the full alphabet and knows there sounds and can tell you what letter it is when seeing it . I’m just not sure now on how to get him to the next step in his learning ? I’m a nursery practitioner myself I just always worked in the preschool room .

Wow! Can I just say how amazing this is!! Mine tries to count, sometimes we get 1-10 (always excluding 7), but this is so cool! Just goes to show how different they all are and what different stages they’re all at!

Sounds like you are doing a great job. Have you tried the lower case letters to? :) Also maybe look at getting him to recognise his name. We started doing this with a picture of each of us with our name written under neath. Then we cut the picture off and tried to get her to recognise which one is hers now. When we are talking about things I have started to emphasise the initial sound too so she starts associating sounds with words that start with that letter. E.g bbb .. ball X

Mines the same obsessed with numbers and letters. He can count and order 1-10 and knows his all letter names but not the sounds and only capitals no lower case yet. I’ve bought him puzzles and blocks to help him. Need tips to help him progress more x
