2 x positive inductions here 🤗 First was long but I still view it positively overall. Went in on Thursday, pessary did not start contractions and no midwives or rooms to progress things until Saturday. Went on the hormone drip around 10am, took a while of messing with the drip to get contractions right (too fast, too slow) which wasn’t pleasant but after the level was right it was smooth sailing and he was born early hours Sunday morning. Gas & air for pain relief, no interventions. 6 weeks ago had a balloon induction. Inserted at 11am, regular contractions by 1:30pm, 8cm/waters broke at 5pm and he was out shortly after and in 3 pushes! No interventions.

@Stacy thank you for the positive stories and congratulations! I’m glad they both went well for you. Personally for you, which one would you recommend?

Another positive induction story for you: FTM to a little boy, I had one pessary and that was enough for me. Pessary went in at 9pm on my due date, had some food and went to sleep while my partner went home. I woke up at 2am with slight period-pain type symptoms and the midwife gave me some paracetamol and I went back to sleep. By 4am it was a bit worse and the midwife gave me some oramorph. By that point I was bouncing on a ball as I found it WAY more comfortable to be upright rather than on my back on the bed. By 6am I called my partner and asked him to come back, when he arrived I was in the bath and contracting every 2-3 mins, then by 8am the midwife gave me some pethidine (which didn’t make me feel sick, I know it does for some) and that was bliss. It didn’t remove the pain but it made me stop caring. By 12pm I was on gas and air and was measuring 5cm (enough to move me down to delivery ward) and by 3pm my son was here! Overall a really positive and relatively quick delivery xx

@Kas thank you 🤗 Hard to say really. Second time was quicker but I was already 2cm when the balloon was inserted and it was my second child. First possibly less painful but I did have gas and air which I didn’t second time around. Either way, I highly recommend hypnobirthing. I did the Positive Birth Company course and there’s a whole section on induction as well as info on pain relief, breathing techniques, etc that I found really useful in both births. Good luck! & congratulations to you too 😊

Positive induction storyyy for me. Number two will be an induction in January as well. I got to the hospital at 8pm on a Thursday and was given cervidil to soften my cervix and get things going and at about midnight my contractions were picking up but it wasn’t helping the soften so they didn’t want to try again as contractions were already crazy. So they decided to start Pitocin at about 5am Friday morning which I was 2cm and 70% effaced. By 1:30pm Friday I was 10cm !!

Put on the hormone drip about 4pm. Was 7cm/ 8cm by about 8pm and had the epidural. 10cm by 11pm. (Had to wait 1 hour before I started pushing) Pushed for 2 hours (not great. But this happened with my 1st birth too so must be something to do with my body 🤣) Then a new midwife came in, changed my position and was out within a couple of pushes. I had a lovely experience and would do it again x

I only got the drip as my waters had broke, but it was amazing! Really quick and easy for me I wouldn’t change a thing! They’re not all bad!

@Chelsie random question but what position was you put in when baby only took a couple pushes to come out? I’m so happy it went well for you! X

I was on my back the whole time on the bed. But as soon as the new midwife put my legs on the stirrups I think they are called, put my legs higher and reclined me back. Honestly it was amazing 🤣 I was pushing for 2 hours and could feel nothing was happening and then as a soon as I moved to that position within the first push I could feel the head coming out ! X

@Chelsie thank you I’ll definitely take this into consideration 🤣
