C SECTION Pain

Hey ,I had a c section on 22 October (my first baby) and I’m still in a lot of pain. I try to keep up with painkillers and it doesn’t seem to be doing the job. I’m also worried that my tummy is still swollen and very painful above my scar it’s tender and feels bruised (is this normal?) will my tummy go down. I’m also breastfeeding and this has been challenging and painful at times I’ve tried rugby ball position when feeding. I’d really appreciate any top tips on how to help reduce the pain and discomfort.

Above my scar is still tender and sore but I don't need painkillers to manage it anymore. My section was on the 17th so not too long before yours. I would also recommend calling the breastfeeding support line (assuming you're in the uk) or speaking to your midwife/health visitor about lactation support x

Thank you! I will give them a call and yes mine is still painful I think it’s best I get it checked xx

I'd really go to the hospital or gp to check everything is OK, I don't think you should still be in pain...

I had my section on the 18th and don't need pain killers anymore but above the scar the stomach area is numb and still tender. The scar is still healing

I had mine 15th October and the last few days has started to feel more tender and bruised like feeling around the scar and lower tummy. Hurts again. To sit myself up in bed ect like it pulls on the scar area. Also feels worse again when I sneeze/cough/laugh like my insides could burst 🙈 I’m not sure if it’s scar tissue forming but if it doesn’t ease the next few days I’m gonna call GP for advice and to be checked. You’re not alone feeling this, I hope it gets better for you soon ❤️

I had a section on the 22nd. It was actually my second. I’ve had to phone the drs yesterday as I didn’t feel it was healing very well because I have some redness and little bits along the ‘line’ where the skin hasn’t fused back together. I’ve been prescribed some antibiotics but she did ask if I still have pain. Which I do but still a numbness and bruising above. Sounds similar to you. I’d suggest ringing your dr. Also I guess they say 6-8 weeks for a reason and not everyone’s bodies react the same way. We can only see what is going on in the outside there are lots of layers trying to heal underneath. X

Thank you guys I will defo be giving my GP a call x

Get stronger pain killers! Dihydrocodiene are breastfeeding safe I didn't know about them or offered them for my 1st section, my recovery was hard! This time I had some ready and asked in the hospital for it straight away and it really helps!

I had mine on 22nd… wound is healing lovely. Tummy is still swollen and hard to touch, my scar gets really achy if I do too much or laugh too much. I’m still not able to walk much without getting uncomfortable and having to wear loose clothing. I’m not in agony that I have to take any pain relief but it’s just uncomfortable but it’s only 4 weeks so still healing x

Mine is pretty much the same very tender and I feel as though one side is a little more raised and swollen (could be the side the surgeon started or ended the stitching not sure) I went to the GP she checked and said it was healing perfectly and no sign of any infection she said I just have hyper sensitive skin and some cases it can take longer to heal.
