@Lauren ahh thank you so much! I get so worried about comments on this app that are judgey - I’ve seen alot of them and makes me feel awful and they aren’t even to me! Every week I buy stuff and tell myself I’m going to be better for her and then when it comes to it I’ve got so much to do I.e bottles tidying up I just take a couple of cubes of the pouch out the freezer and ping them and give them! I also feel like there’s so much pressure to give all fresh food and I said when I was pregnant I’d never use a pouch but they are so much easier! Xxx
You could try batch cooking and freezing a few simple meat and veg combos and then keep pouches for when you are out and about! I also try to offer some fingerfood alongside the purée/mashed food so you are offering a variety x x good luck!
I'm struggling with this too, my husband works really long hours so isn't here basically the whole time the baby is awake, some really quick things I do while she is sitting in her high chair are mashed avocado on toast, or banana, slices of melon, slices of cucumber, pita bread etc. For breakfast porridge is fairly quick and you can just mash in some banana or put some finely chopped berries in, she'll normally watch me make this I her high chair. I do use pouches too though, I find tea time the most difficult. I'm trying to cook things for us she can eat and then blending it up for the next day where I can. I feel you though, I definitely feel like she prefers the pouches often and the constant prep and cleaning up is a very time consuming. When she's in a good mood she'll sit and watch but some days I really struggle
It is such a time consuming process isn’t it?!😂 My son never took to purees so it’s been a struggle with food. Eventually I found he will take my food cut up tiny/mashed and I let him self feed. He has weetabix with fruit puree in the mornings. Lunches he usually has scrambled eggs with toast, quesadilla (I add in vegetable puree and small amounts of cheese, bagels with avocado, toasted ham sandwich or homemade pizzas (I batch cook these). Dinners: jacket potato, fish nuggets, spag bowl (batch cook and freeze sauce), cottage pie, lasagne or just whatever I’m having modified but hit and miss still. He’s also very funny with texture. Lunch and dinner I always do 1-2 types of fruit, vegetable sticks and mixed veg like carrots, peas, broccoli etc It’s so hard 🫠😖
I’ve made some finger foods from yummy little belly on Instagram - things I might already have in like potatoes/carrot and made into tots. Seem to go down well. I try and do that alongside pouches, but it’s all fairly time consuming! I try to make them alongside what I’m cooking then freeze them.
Thank you so much everyone! I’m so relieved it’s not only me that feels this way! Made me feel alot better 🩷
@Casey this is probably going to sound silly but when you batch cook stuff do you simply just microwave them then give? I’ve seen loads of stuff id like to do for her but it’s just having the physical time!
Microwave or pop it into the air fryer/under the grill depending on what it is. Like pizzas I pop into the air fryer but spag bowl I defrost in microwave and then add to pasta in pan to heat up x
Don’t feel bad at all, she is being fed and she is happy! I use the pouches too and I love them, even the shop own brands are good too. It’s convenient and they’re organic so I don’t see the problem at all, I’ve done some batch things and when she is a little older she will have the same as my eldest. For the time being though she loves the pouches! X
I hear you Mumma. I work full time, have a 2yo and trying to have that balance for my own sanity. I am struggling with routine for my little one and go with full intention of making something but revert to pouches. I am lazy when it comes to cooking I like quick simple and healthy meals. You’re doing amazing don’t forget that 🩷 sorry I can’t give any advise but just know you’re not alone xxx
