Pack pillow cases, I took my mom and my husband and they were uncomfortable cause the chairs to sleep are uncomfortable, I’ve seen husbands that take a air mattress. Take pillows, towels, sheets for your companion. TAKE SNACKS!! A sound machine with a sound that you actually enjoy
I came in for the same reason on Sunday. I’m really really hoping your experience is better than mine. The midwife aggressively tried for 3-4 times, and wasn’t able to successfully complete it because my cervix was too hard and because it was sooooo painful. I feel like she was just trying to make it work, but every other provider here has been apologetic since because it was seriously like medical trauma. I was not Prepared at all for it to be that bad, but it’s been awful even every cervical exam after that. I’ve now been on oral medication instead to soften the cervix. It’s been a slow Process but I would not recommend it unless you’re cervix was soft, Low, or opened.
@Neha my cervix is soft but still closed. This is my second child so I feel like my body will know what to do when it comes time. I'm so sorry for your trauma.
I had the cervical gel put in at Yale but then was sent home to labor. Love the hospital and my midwife was amazing
I’m wishing and hoping your experience is better than mine, I was induced at ynhh I went in at 2cm after a normal prenatal check up but had high bp, they put the balloon and that mf is PAINFUL! They put it at around 4pm and constantly checked in in me and around 2 am I was only 3cm at 4 they came in and told me I had to get an emergency cesarean because baby’s heart rate was elevated between 180-230ish since they put the balloon! That’s why they kept checking on me and then they said they couldn’t risk having the baby’s heart rate to be elevated any longer ?! But the cesarean went great
I was induced at Yale. Had a wonderful experience. I wasn’t expecting to be induced so I didn’t pack anything extra but I didn’t need anything extra. My butt was so sore though so I do recommend a donut pillow.
I was induced but I had my baby in NYC. Everything will be okay, just take stuff that you feel comfortable, as soon as they were going to introduce the balloon for the induction, it was personally too painful for me so I asked for the epidural, once I had it everything was great. The only problem was that the epidural decided to ran out one hour before I gave birth (so I literally didn’t have epidural when I needed it the most). So I recommend you to request for more epidural as soon as you have 5cm if the nurses tell you you don’t have enough.
