Type of IUD

Hey mamas! I have my 6 weeks appointment on Friday and would like to get the IUD. I’ve been reading about the differences and I’m leaning toward the copper one because it’s non-hormonal. If you have an IDU - what kind? Any complications? Can you still breastfeed? Thanks!

I’m curious too of peoples answers!! I was looking into the copper iud by my doctor said the periods are usually 7-10 days and heavier than usual and I’m like NOT about that lol that sounds absolutely terrible

Im on the no estrogen birth control pills bc im breastfeeding my baby girl and don't want her getting more estrogen than she needs

I had liletta before I had my son ill be ggetting it back next Tuesday my son is almost 5 weeks old im ebf I loved the liletta I had no problems with it

I had a liletta and was exclusively pumping. Was told it wouldn't hurt my supply, but for some reason it tanked my supply at about 5 months pp. But it was nice not to have a period pp. But about 18 months after getting it, it migrated and came half way out. Ended up in the ER to have it removed

@Victoria Aguilar I won’t do the pill again because I got pregnant twice on them.

@Chantelle that sounds horrible so I won’t be doing that one lol

I had both the mirena and lil Etta before I got pregnant, I didn’t notice a difference. I personally didn’t get my period on it, and I felt the best with the hormonal IUD since the hormones are localized (I got sick with the pill and other methods) I just had my 6 week appt and I got the merina again!

I will say, ask the have the string cut a little long, my second IUD the string were short and got sucked up, so I had complications with removal! Plus when the string is long it will curl up vs being short and pokey which makes it more comfortable for your partner

I had the mirena coil (hormonal one) for 7years before we had our son (well I had 1 for the max 5 years then another in for 2 years) and loved it! I didn’t have periods, and I didn’t have to worry about it for 5 years, I felt fine on it. Once I have this baby I’ll be having it again, highly recommend xx

I have mirena and still BFing fine
