Employee Performance Review: Weaponized or Developmental

If you've ever worked in a corporate world, you know performance reviews are extremely crucial for a thriving career. While constructive feedbacks are designed to identify areas of strenght and weaknesses needing development, this period in the life of an employee can be trumatizing and frightening. In your opinion, are performance-based feedbacks addressing the core reason for their formation? Do you think the process is weaponized to deter poor performances or to promote greater awareness in targeted areas? What do you consider constructive feedback? Thank you for your contribution

Another great one Tima. I work doing social services in a corporate setting so I am very aware of how the annual performance reviews work. I believe an annual performance review is overall positive. A lot of it comes down to how the company formulates the review how they encourage transparency and how they follow up after. I think it really gives the opportunity to discuss areas of improvement areas of strength but it could be biased depending on the work relationship between the supervisor and the employee. In a perfect world annual performance reviews are transparent are positive and are unbiased. However in some situations there could be shortcomings. I believe that annual performance reviews are more to promote greater awareness and targeted areas... What i consider constructive feedback is highlighting positive aspects of a person's performance. Being aware of the wording and being supportive of employees when it comes to areas of improvement.

An effective review motivates and encourages the employee to strive for greatness. ☺️

What I should've done was take what they say im doing good at and find a job that aligns with what I'm good at and like doing. Rather than focus and fix weaknesses let's focus build up my strengths. No one is perfect. It's okay to have weaknesses that's how great partnerships work. What I'm not good at someone else is. Let's team up.

@Violeta💕 you couldn't have said it better! Thank you for a thoughtful contribution as always! Another great one from you 🥰
