Losing the plot with a Velcro baby

My son is now 14 weeks but we have no routine what so ever , he doesnt sleep in his bed at all. So day naps are contact naps and in the night l sit up holding him and he just wants to be on the boob pretty much all night. If he falls asleep and l put him down he wakes up within minutes so for 3months l havent slept much at all ( i know all you mamas havent slept either) . My bum is also sore because im always sitting with him. I have a 2 year old and l feel like when he was 14 weeks we were starting to form some form of routine. I dont know how to get him to sleep in his bed, l tried a hot water bottle to warm his next to me and that didnt work. I feel like im on the verge of just having a mental breakdowm because im soo exhausted and still have to be present for my toddler. I dont see the end of the tunnel at all and its really bringing me down now.

Could it be worth speaking to your health visitor to try and get some advice on beginning a routine x

Not much advice but have you tried wearing a top for a while then wrapping that around baby’s mattress so it smells of you? That paired with a hot water bottle helped with my first x

similar situation - I have tried the side lying position c curl and co-sleeping. With some caution, we now sleep together for some hours at night.

@Eve im scared of this in case l hurt him!

@Amy i tried it in the early weeks and it didnt work, his brother was similar but he started doing 2hrs stretches but this new baby is taking his time

Sending love, no advice as we are exactly the same. Soon as I put my son down anywhere he is wide awake xx

Have been co sleeping with my son for 2 months now, best thing ever! I’m not sleep deprived. He sleeps like a champ, might be worth looking into how to do it safely and all.

Was in a very similar situation but we now manage naps in her cot and a decent chunk of the night in her bed, we still spend some hours co sleeping so would definitely recommend looking at how to do it safely will make your life so much better! Look at then pick up put down method, it might take some time but it works and isn’t a cry it out method, they learn to settle themselves, Also if you need a routine to be created for you have a look at any of the sleep programmes they all have Black Friday sales on.

I cosleep and use the baby carrier in the day, contact nap and he has one nap a day in his Moses basket now but it’s taken us 11 weeks to get to the point he’ll even sleep in it!

(Safe) cosleeping will save your life!!!!
