I've seen things online where people wear a different engagement ring when out the house so they don't damage or loose their original ring Don't see why you can't get a new one I like the above comment about having it remade 😊
I’d keep the original just for sentimental reasons, and maybe get myself/ask for one that matched my current style but for an important event or anniversary so that it would also have its own significance :)
Just change the band? My friend did this recently
@Sorrel yeah I’ve suggested that to my husband but he said it doesn’t feel right doing that as it’s “destroying” the ring. To me that would make more sense too.
Oh no that a shame he’s had such a strong reaction to it 😬 Maybe just get a cheap gold one then? He could put it on you (not to propose again but just a little gesture 🤷🏽♀️)
I don’t know. I only wore silver jewelry before I got engaged but my engagement ring and wedding band are yellow gold so I’ve shifted and started buying yellow gold jewelry because my engagement ring has more significance than anything else. I guess my question is, can you not just invest in some white gold pieces?
I feel like engagement/wedding rings to me are separate from other jewelry. Like mine are both white gold but I don’t even consider the other jewelry I’m wearing that day (which I may match to my outfit or whatever). I can see why your husband may be upset because you’re “rejecting” the ring he got you in a way, even if you were to buy another one yourself. If I were in his shoes I would be hurt, honestly.
My ring is white gold and typically I always wear gold jewelry necklaces earrings other rings except my diamond studs. I like the way my ring stands out amongst my other jewelry. If you don’t mind the mixed metal look you could continue to wear it. And maybe update the band.
Maybe take the Diamond from it and have it remade into what you want. It’s really common to “update” rings and usually much less expensive because you aren’t paying for a diamon, just the setting.
