Only child guilt

I sometimes feel guilty that I’m only going to have one child. I feel bad for my LO, anyone else feel like this? I know it’s okay to have one but I can’t seem to shake the thoughts of this.

I feel exactly the same, sometimes I see my LO playing alone and i feel so so guilty!

I felt like this and had a second. However, I look at my friends with 1 child and am somewhat envious of the time they can spend and invest in their child. Cherish what you have! X Edit to add, I guess it’s guilt on the other side, guilty I can’t always give 121 attention. Or if they both need me at the same time, they have limited or divided time from me 😞

@Gilly this is my worry too! The guilt of not being able to divide my time and attention (if I was to have another) 🥺

Yes I feel this especially when we are somewhere with siblings playing nicely, my LO tries to interact but the siblings have each other so aren't that fussed on playing with him and I feel bad that he doesn't have that default playmate that he would have in a sibling 😞 but my husband is a definite no on having more kids so short of replacing my husband we will be sticking with one child! There does seem to be a lot more single child families now than when I was a kid so perhaps all the only children will form stronger friendships than we did with siblings around and we can offer him far more attention, things, activities and experiences with just one child to provide for so there are definite perks too.

I can’t comment as I do have 2 children (there is a 6 year age gap) but I always wanted 2, however it’s interesting I have siblings so always wanted 2 children but I know at least 3 friends that are only children that only want one child so they obviously see the benefits of being an only child , I also think financially I’m stretching myself and I know financially I could give an only child more so there are positives to only children (I honestly think your a mum now and you feel guilty no matter what!!)
