Useless GP

I have been waiting to hear from docs for the 8 week appointment which HV told me I would be able to discuss any issues I was having as well as LO getting her vaccinations etc. Finally got a letter saying the appointment is 10th Feb when my LO will actually be 11 weeks which is annoying in itself but there’s also a footnote on the letter saying the appointment is just for the baby and I won’t be able to raise anything about myself, if I want to do that I will have to make a separate appointment which can take months to get with my GP. My main issue is I want to start on the pill again and have been told I shouldn’t do this without getting checked over by the doctor. I have a few boxes leftover from before I got pregnant and they are all in date, am I safe to start taking it again? I was on it for years before I got pregnant and never had any major issues. I don’t want to risk going that long without being on anything. Any advice?

I don't see why not. I got put on the mini pill during covid and I never had any check ups. I just got told to take my own BP and if it's fine I can get repeat through there app for repeat prescriptions. I'd book an appointment but start it again and hopefully get an appointment before you run out. Unless you still have it on your repeats then just order more when needed

You’re not supposed to take the combined pill if you’re breastfeeding fyi. Only the mini pill

I think you’re put on the mini pill up to the first 12 weeks after giving birth because of the risk of blood clots etc. I was originally on the combined and wanted to go back on that but was told no. if your pill is a mini I would just take it personally. If not I would still be asking at your appointment even if it’s just for baby surely it’s not going to take that long to sort a pill for you!
