If you’re breastfeeding you can use progesterone only pill
@Jess thank you, I’ve got an appointment tomorrow with my GP so going to speak to them. I’ve had a lot of problems after birth and they’re still ongoing so I don’t particularly think getting a coil in would help and might potentially make it all worse xx
I’ve had the copper coil fitted because I don’t think my mental health could deal with any more hormones. Also breastfeeding. No problems so far
I’m on the hormone coil it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was it does feel weird for the first day but u don’t notice it at all my period has stopped and u can just leave it for 8 years and forget about it
I’ve booked in for an implant. I’d read into the copper coil and I got in my head about the risks 😕. I’d recommend speaking to your nearest sexual health clinic, as advised by my midwife, they have all the options and far more experience. 😙
I’ve always had the hormone coil and loved it! It’s the only hormone based contraception that can be removed and the hormone is immediately out of your system, so if you were thinking of having more children in the future, you could have it taken out on a Monday and fall pregnant on the Wednesday!
Still deciding... It also depends if you want more kids and how easy it is for you to get pregnant. If it was difficult, I was advised to stick with condoms as it might take a while for your hormones to get back to normal levels.
Ive had the marina coil and copper. The marina was fine but it fell out in the shower.. Scared the life out of me 😅 the copper coil made me bleed for ages!
I'm thinking about getting the implant, I had it after my second baby and it was great for 3 years but I had it out early because I was getting a lot of break through bleeding. I was on the patch before this baby which was amazing as you stick it on and leave it for a week, but I started getting a lot headaches and read it is associated with increased risk of clots and stroke 🙄 I'd rather have a bit of breakthrough bleeding on the implant and not have to think about it for a few years lol
I had copper coil in for 5 years before I had it removed to conceive. No issues at all with it, normal periods of about 4 days long and mild cramps. I’m getting it again! Also no hormones so no other side effects 🙌🏼
I had a copper coil after my 1st, it was great until it moved after 2 years, I had some cramping but no major problem & had it removed, will probably have another one put in soon xx
