Contraception

Hey guys, I have a bit of an odd question. My midwife has spoken to me about contraception already! I’m stressed because I’ve never had anything other than the pill . Has anyone ever had the implant or the injection? What was your experience with it?

I have had 3 implants and I really like it, stops my periods lasts for ages at a time, and hasn’t effected my fertility I have fallen pregnant after having it out after only 1 month twice! The injection can cause issues with your bones after a while so double check the side effects 🙂

I had the implant and had to have it removed within a month. It was messing with my hormones and had major mood swings. Uncontrollable. And I wouldn't stop bleeding.

Loved the implant. Had 3 over 8 years and never had any issues. It stopped my periods (which was amazing!!) and I'm now expecting baby no.3 so it definitely hasn't affected fertility x

I’ve always had a copper coil, not the most comfortable thing to have put in. But it’s completely hormone free and doesn’t affect fertility etc.

Had the inplant twice with no issues worked really well well for me

I’ve had the implant. First time absolutely fine. Didn’t stop my periods but they were light and regular. 2nd time I had it I had to get it removed as it made me full on psycho 🙈. I then changed to the coil which again was absolutely fine. Periods were irregular for first couple of months then settled and had no issues. Fertility returned straight away and got pregnant two months after having it removed xxx

I had hormonal contraception (implant/pill) throughout my 20s and I would never go back on it, had a horrible time!

Had the copper coil for 5 years and as uncomfortable as insertion and removal is. The 5 years was the easiest contraception ever. Nothing to forget as its always there and as soon as it was out, I got pregnant the same day 😂 also no hormonal side effects just heavier periods! Which for me was easy as I already suffered from heavy periods

I had the implant and it was the worse experience. My doctor’s surgery refused to take it out early even though I went in so many times and I bled for 3 years straight (I maybe had 10 days where I didn’t bleed at all). I gained a substantial amount of weight, awful mood swings and my mental health in general got a lot worse. I’d never have it again. I’m hopefully getting the coil after this baby. I did think about the injection but realistically with three little ones I don’t think I’d be organised enough with getting the appointment booked in and actually going every 3 months and we’re more than happy with the amount of babies we have now 😂
