Do you internally talk to yourself (in your head)

Most of the time no but occasionally I do

I'm always talking to myself like I'm in a music video/movie. I produce so much in my head im a certified film producer

I’m really curious how other people think if they don’t talk to themselves internally 🤔 I nearly always have a song playing in my head too!

Right so i had a full on argument with someone once in sixth form about this. I said “I wonder how people who are born deaf think because when I think, I can hear my own voice in my head narrating my day.” This girl called me a “schizo” and was literally such a dick about it trying to embarrass me in front of the whole class by saying “omg she hears voices in her head she’s weird.” Well turns out only a small percentage of people have the internal conversation thing (inner monologue is the phrase I believe). So she probably didn’t have that inner monologue and thought that must mean NO ONE has it🙄. I googled the deaf people thing and apparently they think in imagery as opposed to an inner monologue

…I have never! The percentages on this are wild. This is almost universal evidently

If you are one of those who don't have it, how do you think things through on your own? 🤔

@Michelle I’m not sure how to answer that. I just think about things?? Like right now if you imagine the smell of rain, do you hear yourself saying “rain smells like freshness and plants”? If you think about your cat, do you say “my cats name is Chubbs and he’s orange” or do you just see an image of him running, or think about the feel of his fur Because I don’t hear words when I think of those things, and that’s how it is when I sort out other concepts as well. I can say words in my head if I need, like I’m trying to remember song lyrics or something. But it’s a choice to do it, not something that just happens all the time
