How do I leave

Help! I have a good paying job (currently on Mat leave and SMP) but I have debt from a couple of years ago which I am paying off but has affected my credit score. I live with my partner in military housing. I want to leave but I cannot afford rent with my debt, I also can’t get a home with my credit history or have anyone who can be a guarantor and won’t get any support from state because of my wage isn’t low income. I could finance rent but not the childcare. I’ve been trying to stay and pay off my debt as quickly as possible but things are just unbearable and not a suitable and stable home for my child. My partner knows I have no where to go and often tells me to leave knowing I can’t because I won’t leave my child. He keeps threatening to keep my child as I can’t provide a home for her. He tried to physically remove me from the home this morning. Do I need to quit my job and go bankrupt to get help? I just don’t know which way to turn?

Do not quit your job. Regardless if you declare bankruptcy or not, it isn’t a requirement to quit your job. I’d speak to the bank you’re in debt with and explain your situation, ask if they can give u a payment holiday or a set up a smaller repayment amount to help slightly. I’d then go to my local council or contact the police and explain the situation and what happened this morning, they’ll then look to place in you temporary housing before finding you a place. Don’t quit your job, I cannot emphasise this enough.

You definitely need to inform the police of what has happened as, at the very least, they will then have a record if things get worse. Get in touch with the council and explain your situation. From what you are saying this is abuse so you need to get you and your daughter out of there

Are you ok?
