Confidance

Anyone has any advice on how to speak up and be more confident. My confidance hasn't always been the best but recently it has gotten worse. I work and in meetings instead of speaking with clarity and assurance I just choke up every bloody time 😣😣 and I play it again and again in my head 😫😫. Any tips please 😭😭 it is exhausting to and end up choking 😖😖

Toastmasters is a world wide organization that can assist in this area with speaking publicly in any capacity- being more comfortable while doing so. The atmospheres within the local groups are very welcoming growth is actively encouraged in a healthy manner. I was a member for several years prior to having children and it assisted me greatly in this particular area on a professional & personal level . At one point I’d speak regularly in front of about 150 plus realtors weekly in some of the most affluent areas in Los Angeles /Brentwood , pacific palisades & Santa Monica etc

Instead of always second guessing yourself start saying the first thing that comes to mind . You’ll surprise yourself 💗

Practice makes perfect. Read aloud in the mirror to get comfortable with speaking in general. If you know you want to bring up a certain topic, rehearse what you want to say in advance (maybe even a few responses to potential questions). Take a seminar or join a public speaking group (like toastmasters) to help you get more comfortable speaking without a script. Also, don’t be ashamed to pause (even mid sentence) and gather your thoughts, if you can tell you’re starting to choke. Starting to choke will just make you panic and choke more. “Excuse me, I’d like to take moment to think to ensure I’m communicating my point effectively.” Not these exact words, but that’s the sentiment you want to get across.

Instead of having a written diary/journal like normal, start a video one. Turn on your camera face it selfie style to you and talk about your day as if you were talking to a friend and not yourself. “Hey girl how you doing today, gosh you wouldn’t believe what happened today!” You only need to record 5mins. But 5mins of forcing yourself to talk to a “friend” recorded daily will do wonders for you charisma and your confidence. Lots of IG influencers actually have social anxiety but because they’re speaking into their “phone” looking at themselves talk (instead of people) it lessens the anxiety for them and the “stage fright” so to speak. Doing that, and having someone you can FaceTime every day works wonders in helping you say one line w confidence while having the next line ready to go in continuation, for it to flow. You can look back and watch and see how far you’ve come, also.
