I had an iron infusion it was great it doesn’t hurt at all I was also taking maltofer
Most pregnant women’s irons levels are low. Google what foods have iron in. Greens are your main source.
I had to have iron infusions after my c section last week, they only discovered my levels had dropped right before my section and obviously I had blood loss so they went even lower, the infusion isn't bad at all, annoying having to be stuck to a pole for a few hours but they're not bad and honestly after my second infusion I felt like a new person, I felt a lot brighter, im still on iron tablets now as my levels didn't come up nearly as much as they hoped but don't be worried, it's only going to help x
This is a really common issue, that affects many woman, myself included. Don't over think it. They will do what they need to do to keep you safe and healthy.
I had 2 after a haemorrhage, they weren’t bad. Painless, didn’t take too long and I felt better after! Don’t panic 🙂
Try not to worry I've had issues with my iron levels since my twins were born, I was taking 3 iron tablets a day whilst pregnant and I've been on and off them since. I'd recommend taking first thing with orange juice as it helps absorption and if you're able to do it on an empty stomach even better. Try not to have anything with dairy (even vegan alternatives), tea, or coffee for two hours before or after as it can stop the absorption of the iron into your system.
I had an iron infusion, good thing I did as my levels were low and I lost a lot of blood in my c section. I’m now on iron tablets to bring my iron levels back up again. Didn’t hurt, no issues, all was good ☺️
I had to have two iron infusions 2 and a half weeks before my section and honestly girl it wasn’t as bad as what you think. I had my c section Saturday just gone and my levels were absolutely fine and I didn’t lose hardly any blood during it and was also able to go home earlier than expected the next day as my levels were fine and I didn’t need another infusion. It’s literally sitting there for an hour and then half hour after to make sure you’re okay and not feeling funny after it. It may seem like a long boring time but actually it goes way faster, before you know it you’re done☺️ If you do have an infusion and you do start to feel weird or funny don’t hesitate to tell them, that’s what they’re there for x
i just had a c section on monday (at 39 weeks) and had to have two iron infusions, one at 37 and the last one at 38. my c-section went smoothly and the iron infusions did help bring up my levels. i was terrified and thought it was going to cause issues but it didn’t. your dr wouldn’t put you at risk, if they are recommending the infusions get them! you got this!
Try to eat and drink iron rich foods with vitamin c do it can absorb
hmm, I've heard that eating stuff like spinach, red meat, and lentils can help boost iron levels, but definitely check with your doc about what’s best for you! here's what the 'Heal Baby Care App' says.... "I understand your concern, especially with a C-section approaching. To help boost your iron levels, focus on consuming iron-rich foods like red meat, poultry, fish, lentils, beans, and leafy greens. Pair these with vitamin C-rich foods (like oranges or bell peppers) to enhance iron absorption. Additionally, make sure to take your iron supplements as directed. Have you discussed your dietary preferences or restrictions with your healthcare provider?
Random tip to try: iron tablets actually have better efficacy and absorption when taken every other day as opposed to daily. I could never remember which days I took it when I was pregnant and postpartum so just started taking them on a Monday Wednesday Friday schedule. Good luck!
Try not to panic 🫂 . Anaemia can make you feel awful so hopefully the iron tablets will help you and you’ll feel loads better. Taking them with orange juice is supposed to help the absorption. I take mine first thing in the morning with a glass of OJ. Try and incorporate more iron into your diet via food as well. Low iron is common in pregnancy but it can take a while to get your levels back up. Best of luck x
