Reassurance

When ladies post for reassurance because their LO can’t do something (eg walk, say words) please don’t comment saying ‘mine does marathons but…’ or ‘mine can recite the entire dictionary but….’ It isn’t what they’re looking for and it isn’t helpful! Sorry to moan but I feel so bad for women (and myself) who want a bit of solidarity and comfort, not to hear all about what yours CAN do!

I’d also like to add that in my personal experience the generic advice of ‘they’ll do it in their own time’ wasn’t helpful either. The ‘wait and see’ approach is generally okay but I’d encourage all parents to listen to their instincts. If you feel like something isn’t right and your child is behind then raise it with your GP or paediatrician and get a specialist opinion. We followed our gut and our son was diagnosed with a disability at 6mo. If we’d just waited he wouldn’t have been seen so quickly and would have missed out on all the amazing support he’s had. Our Mumma intuition is strong!

I posted about this before re sleep. Mums were on here losing theirs minds as their little ones were waking loads and a few people were saying things like oh mine sleeps from 8pm til 7am like how is that helpful?? 😵‍💫

@Krystle this drives me mad because first of all read the room but also surely not true, like sorry my baby is a rocket scientist 😂🤡

@Krystle ‘I’m in the same boat. Mine can recite War & Peace but struggles on the last chapter’
