Can sex cause yeast/uti infection?

So every time I have sex with my bf I always get thick discharge and smelly vaginal odor. And I know everyone’s first thought would be cheating, and I would also agree but I’ve always had this problem before I met him, I got an STI yeaaars back, and ever since then my balance gets thrown off easily. Before I met my bf it wasn’t often that I’d randomly get them because I wasn’t sexually active but when I got with my bf it’s more often specifically after sex. But he never wears a condom and always finishes in me. Does this happen with anyone else?

Its definitely the ph balance is off

Yes you can get uti/ yeast infections from sex, especially if he finishes in you boo, it could also be if he is using scented soaps on his privates and then having intercourse that also throughs off your PH balence, you should look up some vaginal probiotics that should help keep everything clean down there <3

It can also be overgrowth of candida

Are you both making sure to urinate before and after? If not that could lead to UTIs. Men can also be carriers of bacteria that can lead to bacterial vaginosis. Practicing good hygiene should help but if you are getting recurring bouts of BV you should both get antibiotics for it. Condoms can also help prevent from getting BV again.

Sex will absolutely do that. Especially with him finishing there. Probiotics and suppositories might help

@Allina not before but I urinate and shower after, sooometimes it helps, but I’ll still get the odor and discharge

Have you gone to your doctor to be tested for bacterial vaginosis? It can cause weird discharge and fishy/pungent smell.

Yes definitely esp if he’s cumming inside. Vag Ph stays at 3.8-4.5, semen is minimum 7.1. So semen F*ks up our vag PH considerately. Use condoms or get him to come elsewhere. My man doesn’t cum inside and I haven’t had vag problems since I was a young adult and that was a long time ago lol. Note; peeing after sex does not get rid of all the cum inside

I’m glad I’m not the only one I actually had him tested and it turns out he was high on his ph or something his dr told him he needs to change his diet so I’m helping him with that since he doesn’t cook but now it’s all of me doing more work just so I don’t smell fishy idk I feel like this is unfair

@Allina yes I have and I will be prescribed something for the time being but honestly I feel like I learned more from these comments than the doctors I’ve seen because they never went into detail like that just “you have this, so here’s this” and then I’m left clueless on what I even need next time it does happen.
