Group B Strep Swab

I have my group B strep swab at my 37 week appointment later this week. Anyone who’s had theirs already - does it hurt? Also, weird but did you shave beforehand? I’ve definitely been slacking in that department and while I’m sure my doctor doesn’t care either way wondering what’s ‘normal’.

No it doesn’t hurt at all!! It’s just a little swab and it’s done within seconds! I just shaved last week and I’m not shaving again until I am close to birth so I have a fresh girl down there LOL The OB’s do not care but if it makes you feel better you do you girl!💗🤌🏼

I had mine and it doesn’t hurt just a little swab straight down. And I trimmed before since I’ve been also lacking in that area lol

I had mine at 36 weeks. Didn’t hurt, it was just a swab

I just had mine and as others said, quick swab that is just inside the vagina and anus. I trimmed and will trim again once labor starts. And shave my legs lol. First time around with the amount of people in there having smooth legs made me feel great (it's the little things).

As a doctor myself please know that we do not care AT ALL! Hair down there is normal. Swab doesn’t hurt. Just shower beforehand and you are good ☺️

Personally I’m always sensitive in there so it was uncomfortable but not painful. My cervical check was painful. Think of it as a pep smear swap without the clamp thing

It was very scratchy doesn’t necessarily hurt but also doesn’t feel normal nothing like a regular Pap smear as it’s just the edge nothing going in. As far as shaving your OB couldn’t care less she’s seen it all I worked in OB for a year and you see shaved and unshaved we truly don’t care at all just that you and baby are healthy 🫶🏼

Mine didn't hurt at all, I don't think I even felt it. I tried to shave a few weeks ago and ended up with a little cut or some sort of irritation that hurt for a couple of weeks so now I've been careful just to trim a little. It's the last thing I was worried about during labor.

Yeah I shaved at around 37 weeks and won’t shave again until way post partum. It’s not recommended to shave really close to delivering! So I shaved at 37 weeks just for my own personal taste that the hair will be somewhat short and I feel everything is easier to clean post partum. But yeah no one cares in the slightest what’s going on down there lol.

doesn’t hurt had mine done at 36 weeks and it doesn’t even go in your butt
