I've tried the pills, depo and copper coil. For me my hormones really mess me up when they fluctuate so the copper coil really made sense. And I have to say, I loved the copper coil, I recommend it all day over any other contraception. The cons of the copper coil is insertion. Some women are okay with it, some find it painful. Honestly it was really painful for me, but I have a phobia and I'm very sensitive vaginally. The rest is amazing, no added hormones. No side effects. And it lasts for years. I need to get myself round to doing it again as I'm 8 weeks postpartum. But I need to mentally prepare for it 🙃
I have the copper coil, this is my 2nd one after having my 1st one out so we could have our baby! I love it, wouldn't have anything else now! Didn't hurt having it inserted, no worse than a smear test for me!
I changed to the copper coil when we were getting married so that I would be hormone free and ready to start trying when we were ready. Honestly it was the best thing I ever did. Had zero side effects, managed to track my cycle from month 2 and had it removed after 8 months to try for a baby. 2 babies later I opted for it again and I’ve still had no issues! Can track my ovulation and period to the hour almost 🤣 husband can’t feel a thing and if anything sex is better!
I found that the pill effects my moods negatively but as the copper coil doesn't have any hormones it doesn't have any side effects. I only stopped using a copper coil as I needed a different coil to clam my periods down
I couldn’t have the pill because of some medication I was on so I had the copper coil. It was pretty good until it moved and got uncomfortable. No side effects for me. After my first baby I went on to the hormonal coil which I got on much better with
Hi Charlotte, I did exactly this a few years back. I loved it and wouldn’t go on any other contraception. My only side effects, which are completely normal, were cramping for a couple of days. It was tough, I’m not going to lie but I’d go through it again as I liked the fact it was non-hormonal x
