Low PPAP-A

Anyone find out they have low PPAP-A and been prescribed aspirin daily? I've just read it on my badger notes, and not really sure what to think of it, or how bad it is. Surely the midwife would have called if really bad, right?

When was the report based? They should have called you really as it’s a new prescription xx

I have low PAPP-A and was on aspirin already for this pregnancy which I’m expecting to take up to about 36 weeks. My understanding is that the aspirin is mostly precautionary and helps to reduce the platelets in your blood that could cause blood clots. Statistically, it’s still very low chance that there’ll be complications, but I’m expecting to have enhanced monitoring and so far my hospital have been great about this and booked in extra scans and put me under obstetrician care (not solely for the low PAPP-A mind you). If you feel worried, definitely ask questions to put your mind at rest. How are all the other tests looking? Did they give you a risk of pre-eclampsia? Despite my low PAPP-A, they said my risk was still low. I think there are some extra tests that they perform at 20 weeks specifically if you’ve had a low score.

I had low Papp-a for my first pregnancy and took a very low dosage of asprin every day. I too was put under consultant care and had additional scans booked after 20 weeks. Baby measured small, and so even more scans were offered! Despite this, because all my other results were low risk I was still able to have a midwife led birth and I had no related complications (and I gave birth to a perfectly proportioned 8lb baby at 41 weeks!) I completely agree with LMK above; ask all the questions you need to understand what is going on.

Same here, low Papp-a and was sent 150mg aspirin a day until birth… to be honest I feel less swollen in the las 4 days since starting taking it so, I guess is doing something good to me and the baby by thinning the blood. But also got really low hgc and very high risk of Edwards/pateau so, had to do an Nipt and now waiting results… they thought on the hospital there was something wrong with the test because hgc was low at levels not compatible with pregnancy and 10 minutes before taking my blood we got the scan and baby was fine so, praying that everything will come back ok 🙏🏻
