Antibiotics and birth control
Asking because I genuinely do not know and Google says two things. I got prescribed amoxicillin recently because I have strep. I’ve HEARD that antibiotics can lower the effect of oral birth control and I was wondering if someone can help confirm this? The nurse that prescribed them didn’t mention anything but I want to be sure. Thanks!

I know when I got amox I believe my pharmacist told me to be careful if taking bc but then again call the pharmacist tomorrow to double check
I would be careful, nowadays it’s the side effects such as being sick or having a bad tummy which can cause your pill to go through your system too fast so just be aware ! 😅
Yeah just use condoms for a week or avoid sex. I took the pill for 7 years without a blip but I took extra precautions when on antibiotics or sick

I'd be more on the cautious side, I've always been told antibiotics can effect BC
