If you can’t get along with your boss, you don’t have a future at that job. You can go for harassment for that dumb comment if you think there’s something there. But if you’re rolling your eyes and under performing, that’s grounds for firing you. Why don’t y’all like each other? What reason did she give for letting you go?
@Michelle there's no hr it's a local company
@Selena because I wouldn't go along with her quizzes and that I'm older then her.. yeah. It's a long story but out GM has a little work crush on her and she told him to fire me so he did.. because "I didn't interact well with customers" but all the customers loved me
I’m sorry it turned out this way. Honestly, it sounds like it was a bad fit. You didn’t have an ally in management, your direct superior wanted you gone, and your actions can be viewed as insubordinate. Those quizzes, whatever that assignment truly was, mattered to your boss, so I can’t imagine her being too impressed that you didn’t take them seriously—or that you refused to do them. Your being older than your boss shouldn’t matter too much, unless it kept you from respecting her position. By your own description, this is insubordination. In your next position, hopefully you’ll find a manager you can respect and who will maybe even mentor you.
@Selena hopefully just frustrated with how it ended given she was only a temp manager is leaving
Go to an employment tribunal solicitor.
I don’t think so. Report to your HR or go to an employment lawyer. Your manager can’t fire you cos you don’t get along. There needs to be strong evidence of poor performance or gross misconduct. Not in 2025, don’t accept it. Raise a stink with this one.
