Thrush

So I think I may have thrush, had a phone call appt and the dr offered me either a pessary treatment or a swap test.. I thought it would just be antibiotics or a cream 😭 Eventually she did offer me a cream to try but said it likely wouldn’t work and asked me to do a swab test myself aswel, has anyone else had thrush before and this was the case? I’ve not had it before so wasn’t sure what was normal

I thought that to but I got thrush for the first time and was so shocked that apparently it’s very common in pregnancy. Anti biotics weren’t offered to me only the pessaries which I had to use for 7 days x

@Caitlan ugh, the thought of that makes me a little uncomfortable 😬 I’m heading to the drs now to do the swab but hoping the cream works šŸ™

To be honest, I believe the pessaries are to treat the thrush and the cream is to help with any itching or discomfort. I didn’t like the thought of the tablets either but you didn’t notice they were in there and they did dissolve. Very annoying with the chalky discharge you get but other than that not bad at all xx

I’ve never had it before until pregnancy either! I used the pessary, they will probably tell you but you don’t use the applicator you use your finger to push it in (this is what I got told anyway) and honestly once it’s done it’s fine apart from the chalky discharge like caitlan said xx

I’ve been suffering bad with thrush and the canestan has been a life saver.

Started using the cream today so hoping that helps šŸ™

For me the pessaries are the only thing that clears it up, I got it with my first pregnancy. I’ve never minded doing them though it’s just the leaking that’s annoying

I’ve never had thrush before and had it twice already this pregnancy! I’ve done a swab with the midwife to confirm and I’ve had pessarys both times. I think it’s back a third so I’ve made a doctors appointment now for next week to confirm and hopefully try a weeks worth to get it finally sorted!

I’ve had thrush before and the pessaries aren’t uncomfortable they melt super quickly and you’ll feel relief soooo quickly ! They’re to treat thrush inside while the creams treat externally so best to combine both! Hope this helps mama! X

Try drinking cranberry juice and reducing sugar and white bread and see if it helps you can also add a bit of cider vinegar to your bath. Worked for me
