Blood thinners

What are the reasons people are prescribed blood thinners after birth? I had an induction and just noticed in my BadgerNotes it says I was prescribed blood thinners apart from I wasn’t/ didn’t have them 🙈 not sure if I should be or if it’s an error!

I had them because of the haemorrhage I had added to my age.

I had a C-section and was prescribed blood thinning injections because you don’t move around as much during your recovery so are more likely to get blood clots in your legs

I had the injections and a DVT treatment dose as thought I had a clot in my leg Usually you get prescribed the prophylaxis blood thinners if you have high risk factors

I had short course (10 days) because of blood loss during birth.

I had 10 days for both my emergency and elective sections.

I had 10 days of injections, I think it was where I had an epidural so wasn’t able to move around and also had to have something else as I had forceps so wasn’t moving around for even longer

I’ve got 6 weeks of them . 3 down 3 to go xx

I had them 5 years ago with my first, because we were in the hospital for a week. And sitting/laying in bed for several days increases the risk of clots. This time I have them because apparently it being my third baby increased my risk.

@Elizabeth oh that’s interesting as it was my 3rd too… they didn’t really tell me why I needed them

@Zoe yeah my midwife let me know that just him being my third baby upped my risk factor by enough they wanted to prescribe the injections for me. I was grateful she explained it! I'm very needlephobic but I've been able to manage with these okay. I've only got the 10 day course, so that makes it easier, my end is in sight tomorrow.
