Cervical screening during IVF

Does anyone know if you can still have a cervical smear test during IVF treatment? I am due to book mine soon. Thanks all

Try and get it done before as you won't be able to have one when you get pregnant. I had mine between my collection and first FET as it became due (didn't have a fresh transfer).

It was a requirement that my smear tests were up to date throughout my entire 4 years IVF process, it was asked about during every cycle and I had to provide dates and results x

In australia we can self-administer a test by scraping the inside of the vagina with a swab. :)

@Lauren its not like that here in the UK unfortunately

Had to be done before. Clinic will want an update to date result before you start

My clinic never asked me anything but I have done my NHS one because it was due about a month before my transfer and it was no issue.

@Annia yeah I have had a letter from NHS to have mine done but it has to be done mid cycle.

@Hollie I am up to date with my smear tests but just had my letter to book my next one as its now been 3 years since my last one

I had to prove to my IVF clinic that I was up to date before they would start treatment. I'm currently 15 weeks with my FET baby and I've just had my letter through to get it done. Although the GP says I can in the second trimester the royal college of obstetrics and gynaecologists say don't get it done in pregnancy (unless there's a history of abnormal results) so I'll be getting it done a few months after baby is here.
