Private fertility tests

How long would you wait before you pay for private fertility treatment? I don't want to TTC for a year and then get referred to NHS so would rather go private and sooner to find out sooner if there are any issues. How long would be reasonable to keep trying before getting tests done?

I think it's very individual. Worth noting that (from what I heard, please look into this) that once you go private nhs will reject you. So if you have treatment privately and it's unsuccessful and the timeljne is now aligned for nhs treatment, they won't do it. See if you can get any testing done through nhs. Or, while controversial, maybe get the testing done privately abroad so you don't loose the nhs spot. Depending on the results decide on the next steps later. I've done private fertility testing because I was on a time crunch to get pregnant ( unrelated health issue) and the results actually came back quite poor. I was totally convinced to just have the private treatment immediately but we were also trying naturally and I'm now that cliche who got pregnant just before starting private ivf treatment.

Depends on your age and various circumstances What we did was - Pay privately for 150 gbp For hertility health Highly recommend They check so much AND they explain it They look to see if pcos. They look at ovarian reserve/ amh. Superdrug would test your partners SA - it costs under 200 gbp and the in depth test looks at 3 aspects - including fragmentation etc... I put the private.HH test results onto my nhs record & discussed with a gp Nhs will test your feretin , b12 , vit d , prolactin , thyroid ^ these are all important

I recommend the book - ' it starts with an egg, ' Depending on your age & how long youve been trying - i recommend a private hyfosy Cost 515 gbp Even tho we had concieved naturally previously But had early miscarriage - My tubes were later blocked That private hyfosy result - played a role in NHS funding 4 ivf Nhs will consider results from private hyfosy and private amh etc

We went private after trying for about 18 months after conceiving naturally and having a miscarriage. I got the hycosy done 19 months into trying and was clear but I must have had mucus or tiny clots because I conceived that cycle. It was the best thing I did and don’t regret all the private testing costs (£1000) because it meant that we skipped the NHS wait times and we were reassured that both our tests had come back normal.
