I was on sertraline for about 2/3 years and thought out my pregnancy with my first. It really helped me find stable ground to work on ways to cope to be able come off sertraline. I've been off it since January this year and been feeling pretty good so far. I never really had any issues with it and have some emergency stashed away if I were to need them again
@Nena in the UK the Dr's tell you it can take up to 3 weeks from taking the full dose to actually work properly
Hi, I am so sorry for what you're going through, I have been there too 🤗 I had it prescribed for anxiety and panic attacks due to my social anxiety. It really helped, I was more calm, and didn't have so much bad thoughts which were causing my episodes. But like girls are saying, it took a while until I could feel a difference. I really hope it will work for you and you'll start feeling better soon 🤗
I've taken it before and it helped me! Sertraline is a selective seretonin reuoptake inhibitor (SSRI) seretonin is a chemical in your brain that helps you feel steady, confident and calm. SSRIs like sertraline make it so the seretonin that is naturally occurring in your brain stays around longer, helping you feel more calm and confident!
Got put it on when I had post natal depression. Initially made me feel sick but that stopped after a few days and since then it’s been the best thing!
I had a very positive experience with sertraline. I needed a push to get out of depression and anxiety, and I asked the gp how long is the minimum I should take it. I made a promise to myself that if I felt better by then (she said 6 months), then I would quit. And it really helped me and 6 months later I stopped using it. It was the push I needed and I’m so glad I was prescribed - I was a bit against it in the beginning. I also did cbt and that helped a lot! Feel free to message me if you want to talk ;)
@Ebony in the US it's 3 months to see an effect.
It helped me so much, I was to the point where I was suicidal and having constant panic attacks and the sertraline helped so much get me out of the whole
@Leire I do was on sertraline after my son was born it made a big difference and I talk to a therapist. It help so much
I took sertraline for depression, anxiety, and PTSD for about two years. Only went off because it was decreasing the effectiveness of my thyroid meds, I otherwise felt much more calm and stable and it was a huge help while processing things in therapy especially.
7 years ago it was so difficult for me to mentally be ready to start sertraline. I am so so grateful I did. My life has improved significantly bc of that choice 💕 I am proud of your choice
Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences, I feel a bit more at ease about my decision now ❤️
Been on it 7 years and it’s helped with my anxiety so much!
I've been on it for a few months now and i had no side effects. Feel so much better! I was super anxious about taking it too but it's the best thing I ever did! X

I'm on paroxetine for anxiety and low mood... about 7 weeks in. For me it's just taken the edge off. I still worry about stuff but the physical sensations of anxiety are gone (for me that was nausea, a tight feeling in my neck, no appetite, feeling hot and panicky, and when it's really bad I get instant raynauds attacks). Looking back I think I would have benefitted from trying it years ago. I was struggling with low mood and have been for as long as I can remember. This has completely stabilised. Intrusive thoughts seem to be gone as well come to think of it. My only side effect is a very twitchy eye! x
i’ve been on it for 5 ish years now and i can’t complain. trialed others before but nothing worked consistently or had unmanageable side effects, the sweats and weird dreams can be odd but manageable and i know for sure it works/helps. my gp recommended to not change or stop throughout pregnancy as can cause more harm than good as my bodys so used to it. baby may experience withdrawals once born but from harvesting colostrum and hoping to breastfeed, baby will still receive a small dose to lower the withdrawal symptoms, if she has any, not everyone does. wishing you all the best x
make sure to read up on how to manage in warmer weather while taking an SSRI, something drs don’t always tell you and stay away from grapefruit as can raise heartrate
I'm on medication for the same things, and I do know that u just have to give it a chance to work. Even if u feel like it's not working, keep taking it. That stuff takes a bit to work. But when it does start working u will feel some better! I hope you start to feel better soon girly!
